Small update and an idea. · 5:31pm Nov 11th, 2020
Hello! Its me again, Sparky!
Sorry for the lack of content. I write during school which has affected my grades, and it's close to the end of the marking period. Like....the end is tomorrow. And I am deathly lazy on the weekends. So I've been on a crunch.
Yet I am working on War of Two Worlds, with the latest chapter being at 1,634 out of 2,000+. As well as another short story that's rather somber,
However, that's not the primary purpose of this blog post. No, its to share an idea I had.
Now, I am a huge Tolkien fan. I love his work. I love his works. Especially his posthumous works like the Silmarillion. If you don't know what that is, google it real quick and come back. I can wait.
Back yet? Goodie!
So, I have this idea for a Silmarillion video game!
It's in the style of an open-world RPG, fitting cause games like Pathfinder wouldn't exist were it not for Tollers. You primarily play Mairon, Morgoth's lieutenant during most of his evils on middle earth. Going about and doing quests for Melkor in your crusade against Eru.
I even have some interesting mechanics.
Forging, shapeshifting, and dialogue options.
Before Marion was Morgoth's lieutenant, he was a Maia in service of Aule, the smithing god of the legendarium. So, as Mairon, you can forge your own weapons from resources you acquire. Be it iron from the blood of your enemies, the souls of the innocent, or just some cool resources you collect on your quests.
Your quality of weapons matches the quality at which you forge them in a minigame for it.
Now, Mairon is what can be defined as a lesser god of sorts, a Maia. And all the Ainur had the ability to shapeshift. So to solve certain puzzles or fight certain enemies, you will shapeshift into a variety of creatures to solve them.
Now, you may ask yourself, Sparky, why is dialogue so important?
Well, Mairon's greatest skill was his charisma and manipulative nature. He was cunning and intelligent. So I feel we should reflect that in a game.
Certain dialogue options will allow you to corrupt someone easier. This will be especially of use in the Numenor arc.
However, he's not the only person you play as. You'll play Morgoth and destroy the lamps and trees. And in the first level, the Music of the Ainur, you are meant to mess up and cause discord in it.
Both of them will also have a domination power as seen in the Shadow of War games.
That's what I got. Tell me what you think!
