A Prench Tale Part 4 & Volume 1 Conclusion · 12:37am Nov 8th, 2020
Hello dear readers!
Well, it's been a stressful week, in an already stressful year, but there's still cause to celebrate! I'm talking about, of course, the completion of Part 4 and of A Prench Tale Vol.1 as a whole! 
First off, what's that 'Vol.1' business about?
tl;dr: the whole of A Prench Tale is now divided into three Volumes, first one concluding today, next one debuting in the near future, with other, smaller projects in the meantime!
A Prench Tale was always conceptualized as an episodic story – hence why it's divided into Parts. When I began publishing the story, about a year and a half ago, I wasn't sure if I should publish all the Parts into one fic, or make each Part its own fic – evidently I had opted for the former (and kept the latter for another episodic project in development), with a publication schedule of one chapter a week, and two to three weeks between each seven chapters-long Part.
However, that plan was complicated by the obliteration of my initial backlog of chapters right from the first week of publication, the freakin' growth spurt my chapter wordcount went through, and a multitude of other factors that caused Part 4 to take a full year, to the day, to be fully published. Needless to say, this was less than optimal, especially for such a long story...
With Part 4 now complete, it's also the opportunity to start over with a better, stronger basis (which takes time and planning), without leaving the fic in a long-lasting 'Incomplete' state without regular updates. My goal is to produce enough material (art and chapters) before beginning publication of Volume 2, for a smoother experience for both the writer and for the readers – what I had originally planned for Volume 1, basically.
The scope of Volume 2 is larger than Volume 1, in terms of events and narrative, and it will be comprised of three Parts. I will take as much time as necessary to plan each Part and each chapter to deliver the best story I can possibly write. During that time I will also be working on other projects, including short fics that I had to put on the back burner until now – a good way of staying in the writing mood of the past month while still being in planning phase.
Concerning Volume 1, I will also continue to edit past chapters, as I've been doing during the past few months, to add invisible PoV shift tags (so that they are recognized by text-to-speech software), and I will also post an updated version of Chapter 16 – the only one I've always been dissatisfied with.
