    Question of the Week #146

Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week.

Well, next week I'll be off on my trip to Hawaii. It's been years in the making but it's finally happening. :pinkiehappy:

So, with me going to Hawaii let's ask an island themed question.

What kind of monster pony would you expect to find on a tropical island? :derpyderp1:

More Post-Apocalyptic Monster Mare Discussion... · 6:14pm Nov 6th, 2020

So I wanted to discuss the brainstorming behind this concept and see what you think. I am glad to see that people do like the concept of a post-apocalyptic monster mare story/series.

Now let me first establish that while this series might parody Fallout: Equestria (as well as the Fallout games themselves), my intent isn't to exclusively parody that. I might try to work in some Far Cry: New Dawn aspects and maybe a few other post-apocalyptic game settings as well (feel free to mention/suggestion some :raritywink:), while also working some monster mares into the setting also.

The story will take place 80+ years after the events of the other entries in the Monster Mares and You stories and will start with your character being one of the survivors living in a special underground shelter called a PACS (Pony Accommodation Containment Shelter). The surface on the other... hoof consists of ash filled deserts, rocks, raiders and of course monster pony tribes, all of which have adapted into their own cultures with their own viewpoints on normal ponies.

So far it looks like the Reader Character this time around will be a pegasus stallion. While living in an underground shelter for most of your life, your ability to fly won't be terrific at first but as you spend more time on the surface and use your wings more often, your skills with flight shall improve. I also thought it might be kind of cool to have the Reader Character be a member of the maintenance crew in PACS-039, because it might give them a bit of an edge when it comes to manipulating technology both in their PACS and on the surface.

Due to an assignment to ensure the survival of everyone inside of PACS-039, you have been sent to the surface with full knowledge that you won't be able to return.

While I do have a few ideas for some fun post-apocalyptic monster mares, do feel free to suggest some ideas in the comments below and if they sound cool or I can see them fitting in my story/series, I might be able to work them in.

Well, there's my thoughts, tell me what you think. :pinkiehappy:

I do hope you are all still interested in this concept. :twilightsheepish:

Well, you asked for it. This is what I think:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAALL MY YESSS!:pinkiecrazy:

... wait a moment.

Character this time around will be a pegasus stallion.

this time around

:pinkiegasp:

5393247 Well, in the past most of the reader characters have been unicorns with one story that I was working on, having an earth pony. :twilightsheepish:

5393250
Oh. And I thought you´d already planned more stories in this setting/theme. Sorry.:facehoof:

5393260 Well, I do. It's just that some of them are just a few gdocs that have been written out and are still in need of work. :twilightsheepish:

I can say that I do have a pretty good idea of what I want to do in the first story in this fun little series idea. :trollestia:

You say that you may be making a story very similar to a Fallout story, but then you have a picture that includes automobiles! Automobiles aren't part of the Fallout series!

Okay okay, I'm joking. In all seriousness though, seems like a pretty good setup for the story, so best of luck on it. I'll probably give it a read once it is all good to go. :)

I just picked the picture because I liked it. lol. :rainbowlaugh:

But yeah, I'm glad you like it.

This sounds very interesting! As for monsters that could thrive in a world like that, all I can think of is a goron like creature, something that can blend into the surrounding area and eats rocks.

5393299
Well, we already got sharks so Rob could just use some real animals as starting point for some of the new “monsters”.
Sharks are fish, so we already know that fish-and-mammal-combos work, which would suggest that the same is true for at least all vertebrates (fish, reptiles, birds, amphibians and mammals)

buuut is we got spiderponies, the same is true for (at least a few) Invertebrates (insects, worms, jellyfish, spiders and more)

5393284
They absolutely are, they just aren't usually in working condition. Still enough left in them to explode if you shoot them, but all cars do that in fiction.

5393308 lol. :rainbowlaugh:

I can definitely say that some of those elements are in the mix. In fact, I will say that ViperPit did ask me at one point if I would do a story with a scorpion pony... there might be a plan to have one appear in this series. :raritywink:

5393390 Well, aside from not seeing any in the show, I have no problem with automobiles being in the story and with the Reader Character having some mechanical knowledge, it is possible that they could repair a vehicle so that it could be used in the Ashen Wasteland.

5393390
Yeah I know, except since cars in the Fallout timeline used atomic energy, that only makes the explosions bigger. I can't recall how many times I've thought I was far enough away from a car explosion and then it still cripples at least one of my limbs.
By saying automobiles I meant ones that actually worked, which are not present in Fallout games.
