A few months ago, I may have introduced my niece to parts of My Little Pony season one. Just had a phone call from her mother asking on her behalf for more Rainbow Dash. Time to lend them some DVDs!
Just a simple writer trying to make her way in this universe.

Yey!
I have watched bronies react to the show for three years because it keeps the show new and fresh with each watching, but I have never seen the reaction of the target audience. When you said she is asking for more info on Rainbow Dash, that reminded me of this scene:
. This makes me wonder if Rainbow really is the most popular among young audiances. I will say that she isn't that complicated, so it could be easier for a younger audiance to grasp. Applejack is simplier still. Maybe too simple?

I think it is a combination of things. Only times she has been able to watch it is when I have brought the DVDs with me, so she sees it as a thing to do with me (unfortunately couldn't stay today, had so much to do). She misses me and her grandma thanks to us all being so much more careful about all illnesses, not just COVID, keeping us away. She is a very bright not quite four year old so seems about the right time for the early younger demographic in picking it up.
Thoughts on why Dash. I think it is a combination of things, Dash is very vibrant in colour design. Has the whole rainbow being part of her thing going on. Dash is also one of the most marketed in not just toys, colouring/painting books, but clothing too. I would say more about Dash's personality, but I don't think it is a factor in this case, at least not yet. Having seen her play with her toys, how she sees Dash is very different from how Dash is on the show, but that is both her imagination working (which should always be encouraged), and her lack of seeing episodes.
