I need help over something stupid XP

It's word count. So I'm looking back at my stories and I find that I'm ... subtly making each story of mine longer and longer and I don't know why. I mean On one end I got MLU2's "Friends and Enemies" at nearly 30,000 words, and back then I got MLU's "Hook Line and Sinker" just barely under 3,000. At first I thought it was fine until someone then asks me why the heck am I making my stories so long all of a sudden ... I don't know how it happened, it just happened, and now it seems i can't get a handle on it.

I'm a fragile person, I admit that. I want to have fun with my work, but at the same time try to please everyone without making anyone mad/bored/confused/whatever the heck. So can anyone help me out here? Am I making it too long, or no? ... Or am I just sitting here over-thinking again about things that don't matter?

I think the word count is fine! Just as long as your having fun with what your doing, I don't mind even if a chapter gets 100,000 words long! You do you friend.
