    Surprise!

The newest chapter of Bluebird is online! Sorry for the long wait, but I hope this makes up for it. I'm trying to conclude the Mount Aris saga of the story nicely. I decided to draft out both parts of the story this time, meaning with this part done, the next part should be ready in weeks instead of months. (I oddly miss the COVID-19 pandemic, where spending time indoors meant I could finish a

    Happy Xmas to All!

Hope everyone is doing well! I had great food, met both sides of my family, and got some nice gifts.

Best of luck to all those submitting for Jinglemas. I would have submitted too, had I not dealt with the emotional toll of redundancy and starting a new job. Still I''ve seen some interesting entries so far (I hope there will be Young Six related entries in the next few days).

I wrote a history book and people can buy it!

That is correct. I've brought it up once or twice on this blog, partly to explain why writing chapters of Bluebird here has slowed.

On Writing "Strange Day at the Recruitment Office" · 8:24pm Oct 16th, 2020

I really don't get it. I get a funny scene in my head of someone from the Royal Guard assuming another pony wanted to join the Royal Guard Academy, only to realise that it's actually Gallus, a griffon, and gets flustered because its something that has never happened before. I post it on Wednesday afternoon, and by the end of the day it got less than 20 upvotes and just over 100 views, and I was perfectly happy with that.

Then the next day I check the page to find a load of notifications, more upvotes, more views, the story being featured and marked as "hot". A part of me feels greatful that a lot more people are liking it than I expected, with some checking out my other stories as a result, but another part makes me feel bad because I can see the issue some people had with the story not continuing.

A problem I have is that I grew up with a lot less confidence in my creative writing skills compared to other kinds of stuff I do like drawing or programming, so the thought of me doing a longer story feels more daunting compared to making a video game or posting fanart I drew. I'm worried that if I go into something long too early, it'll never get finished because I got really demotivated. Hell, I was really on the fence about writing short stories when I first heard about that fic writing contest late last year.

Do I have a longer story about Gallus and his journey to the Royal Guard? Sure do. I brought it up in an earlier blog post, it would go into Gallus making new friends in the Academy and trying to stay connected with his friends in Ponyville, as well as the issues he faces with being the only non-pony in a long established pony institution. Do I feel ready to write it? I'm not sure.

Yeah, when I finished it I thought it was as funny as I imagined it, but I wasn't expecting a "This is really good I wish it continued" kind of reaction.

Ha man you do you, you wanna write a bigger story you do that. But if u wanna keep it this nice little bundle that fine as well.
It was a sweet little fic either way
