The Fussiest Fic There Ever Was

If you're not aware, I am addicted to fussers (big floppa cats). As such, it is imperative (some might say mandatory) that you read this immensely momentous fussfic authored by the amazing IncredibEE. I seriously cannot recommend it enough.

    Happy April Fusser's day <3

    Nothing to sell

I was going to make a post selling my things but then I realized I have nothing functional left to sell. If you want to buy a broken pair of headphones or an acoustic guitar with a broken string or a piano with half the keys missing let me know.

Also let me know if you'd like to help me make rent this month.

Living Situation Difficulties · 6:18pm Oct 16th, 2020

hello all

we have been wanting to wait a while before making this post because we weren't really sure of what was going on... but it seems like that doesn't matter much, so we may as well share what has been happening in our life.

basically since we have moved in, our on-site landlord has been difficult to deal with. he drinks and parties a lot and has a habit of waking us up very early in the morning with loud music outside our bedroom, which, in additional to being one of our trauma triggers, is not very nice anyway.

today he woke us up by playing Eminem on the stereo at 7:30AM. then he beat up his cat a bunch. then when we got up he slammed the door and passively aggressively nagged at us. then he told us he'd gone into the garage and started burning our books.

we inherited a large collection of books, both from our old English professor, and from a life-time of study and purchase.

it seems like our landlord is crazy and not safe to live with. we don't feel safe here. we don't like someone who takes our rent yelling at us and threatening to kick us out even though we paid our rent and have been a quiet and good tennant.

right now we are looking for other places to live, but we are very scared. we don't usually get any replies to our rental inquiries, possibly because we always mention that we are on disability. this is what we were told to do by one of our helpers in the past, and we feel like we should keep doing it.

we called the police, but they didn't want to help much unless we told them the address. we didn't do that because we would probably have another panic attack if the police showed up.

please let us know if you can think of anything to help. we're not begging for money, we just want somewhere to live that is not scary.

while we haven't mentioned it at all, this type of thing has been going on in the background of our life for a while, and it has made it more difficult than we'd like to focus on our work. writing a commission is difficult when you are afraid your possessions are going to be destroyed without warning, and the feeling that if you leave the house you might come back to find your key doesn't work.

that's all for now. very sorry. we are scared. please help. thank you.

Sorry to hear this. :( You can report him for animal abuse, but the police or animal welfare would have to know the address and come to the house.

Edited to add: document all of this in case he decides to kick you out when you have paid your rent. Pay in easily recorded and proven ways, such as with a check or credit card.

If you do end up needing some money to move with, please make another blog post with a link to where we can give donations.

Good luck.

Afraid I can't help much with finding a place, but if/when you do get out you can call the cops on him once you no longer live there.

Mao was wrong about birds and artists, but he was right about landlords.

Your landlord sounds like a douchebag

There's alot of good advice in this thread, stay safe and sound Darf.

If he threatens you, let me know, so I can exact your vengeance on his kneecaps.

Perhaps seek help from any neighbors you may have? I'm thinking a joint complaint or strength in numbers may benefit you. Just throwing it out there. Be safe.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I think getting out of there is absolutely the right call.

I might suggest taking some photos of your stuff-- books, electronics, anything of value, your room in general-- so that if things get worse, and your landlord damages or steals anything, you have before and after photos you could submit with a police report, insurance claim, or small claims case. Even if you don't actually go through with any of that, being able to threaten that you could might get him to back off.

And speaking as a commissioner... seriously, don't worry about commissions right now. Focus on getting your life in order first. I can wait, and I'm happy to do so.

Use this immediately.

You're afraid to talk to the police, you need specialized help. This definitely counts.

Oof. If the police isn't an option, this is going to get tricky. Documenting everything definitely is a good idea, but without a way to leverage the evidence, you're stuck. IMO, Tuume's and Trick Question's advice look like your best bet.
