State of the bat · 7:00am Oct 15th, 2020
t's been a hell of a month. What happens when a workaholic has the opportunity to help out their old boss? Well, in my case, that would be 17 straight days of work. Or something like that, not sure about my math. And that's after being off for a few days with a cold or flu.
Throw in that I've gone semi-nocturnal, which is a new thing for me, but I kinda like it. Seriously, it's 0130 or thereabouts, and here I sit, drinking a hibiscus water, sorta tired, sorta not, sorta hungry, sorta not. In the past I've gone back and forth from nocturnal to diurnal with the change being somewhat abrupt, which is why I no longer work at, nor can ever again work at Walmart. This time I just wind up being awake for a few hours at night.
As mentioned, bit of a change at work, my boss moved on to another store, so I've been working at mine, while helping him at that one. Good part is the new boss wants things done right which means I've been doing a lot of work there with the freedom to order whatever fixtures I need to fix all the signage and displays. Bad news, no excuse not to work when I'm there.
Need to catch up with the world obviously since I've been doing nothing but work for weeks, did some of that on Tues, my first day off. Can say I've been working too much since I spent my day off feeling like something was wrong because I wasn't at work. Oh, and I finally got the place mostly decorated for Halloween. And went for an eye exam as the first step in getting Lasik done, that was inspired by me misplacing my glasses at the other store I was working at and having to go without for like 3 or so days, just have to figure out how to work it into the schedule what with us being short handed at work (anyone want a retail job in the St Louis area?).
Speaking of us being short handed, I've agreed to be a key holder at the store, but not a manager, I'm too old to do that nonsense, never liked being in charge, and not changing that. Also nudged the district manager about a missing raise.
On the FiM front, despite everything going on, I've still managed to keep up proofreading, and even taken on more authors, specifically Halira, Xrevias, Sparkle Cola, Silent Wing and sorta Cosmic Eclipse (did some work back in July, but last three updates haven't tapped me). All of them are awesome and deserve more attention, particularly Halira who could use some cheering up. Oh, and I will admit to struggling a bit at the moment to do any work on the two chapters in front of me, I think it's because I went from running at 110+% to normal that I'm a bit under motivated until I adjust back to normal.
Well, guess that's the state of the bat.
