My Movie Review on Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted · 9:24pm Oct 13th, 2020

Yo, what's up, Kemosabes?

This is your friendly film, TV show, and episode reporter here with another review.

Today, for my 185th film analysis, and the fifth installment of my "Spook Spectacular" series, I'm gonna give you guys my take of "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted".

Here's the rundown of it:

Having grown tired of waiting for the penguins and chimps to come pick them up from Africa, Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman decide to travel to Europe and go look for them, with the lemurs accompanying them.

However, while in Europe, the group causes quite a disturbance in a casino. This catches the attention of a psychotic Animal Control officer named Chantel DuBois, who is particularly interested in capturing Alex for a reason that's far from humane. The worst part is that the airplane has been totaled for good, so Alex and his friends have no way of going to New York.

In a desperate attempt to hide, the band of animals stow away on a circus train. Among its residents are Vitaly the tiger, Gia the jaguar, and Stefano the sea lion. Interestingly enough, Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman later learn that if the circus does well enough on its tour in Europe, they could gain permission from a promoter to visit America.

Could this be Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman's ticket to finally go home to the Central Park Zoo? Or not? And can they manage to avoid DuBois forever?

I know this film isn't a horror film or Halloween-oriented motion picture, but I wanted to get my review of this movie done as quickly as I could no matter what time of year it was.

There's one thing I'd like to say to kick this review off with:

Out of all the Madagascar films, this one...IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!

Everything about this sequel is just so much fun to watch.

For instance, the direction by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath, and Conrad Vernon, and the story by Darnell and Noah Baumbach, were fantastic!

The humor and comedic-timings throughout the movie were gut-bustlingly hilarious, which is something that I believe was particularly influenced by Baumbach's work as co-writer. Whenever I watched this film, I often couldn't resist laughing because the humorous spirit had outstanding energy and innocence. None of the jokes were out of place, and even the smallest of gags were entertaining.

The film also contained a wonderful amount of emotion and heart that was deeply soul-tugging, as well as marvelous morals for people to live by. Plus, the plot was incredibly character-driven and tied itself together flawlessly. And yes, I am aware that some people think that Africa was the place for Alex and company to call home and that they should've stayed there, but...I believe that the circus is the right place for them. It's been frequently shown that they're incapable of living in the wild, and the circus is also the place where they can be themselves and not struggle to adapt.

The animation and cinematography were astonishing, if I may add.

I love how the animators captured everything with a passion and energy equal to Darnell and company, and the fact that they don't know when to stop helping the overall visual grow is something that I enjoy seeing. The best part is that they weren't afraid of taking risks and pushing the envelope. The part where the characters perform during Katy Perry's "Firework" was what I'd like to call the pinnacle moment of the film, because it's one of the most spellbinding scenes in animation history and was a perfect example of animators pushing things past reality.

The music by Hans Zimmer was likewise magnificent.

His score carried an astounding emotionality that greatly reflected every moment of the film, and the melodies helped the movie feel like it wasn't just a mere comedy either. For instance, when Alex and company were arriving in Monte Carlo, the melodies for that scene made it feel like it was part of a spy movie. The music Zimmer made was the very best of his contributions to the Madagascar franchise, that's for sure. Plus, the incorporations of Katy Perry's "Firework", Journey's "Any Way You Want It", and Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP's "We No Speak Americano" were hugely entertaining, and so was Frances McDormand's rendition of "Non Je Ne Regrette".

Finally, the vocal performances, casting, characters, and character development were astonishing.

When it came to making sure that every character was filled to the brim with depth and personality, the filmmakers and performers hardly messed around.

As usual, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen were the undeniable scene-stealers amongst the reprising cast members, delivering flawless comedic-timings and putting their hearts and souls into portraying their characters. The characters of Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman, and Julien likewise had a vast amount of development.

The film's new characters and cast members were brilliant as well. Martin Short literally killed it with his portrayal of Stefano, and Frances McDormand gave her character of DuBois a sense of something both classical and human at the same time as a villain. The performances of Bryan Cranston as Vitaly and Jessica Chastain as Gia were likewise remarkable, because they incorporated powerful personality and emotion that made their characters instantly three-dimensional and full of life. Plus, all the characters I mentioned had dynamic development.

Also, I'd like to be honest, the romantic-pairing of Alex and Gia is my favorite of the Madagascar franchise. Every moment the two characters are together is quite entertaining, and the chemistry between them beautifully shows how well they mix together.

In conclusion, "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" is what I'd like to call the very best of the series. It's funny, the characters are fun to hang with, everything! It works flawlessly as the finale to the series too, although I wouldn't mind seeing what Dreamworks will dish up with the fourth film they're apparently planning to create.

So, I rate "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" five out of five stars.

Before I conclude this post, I'd like to show you guys a video that I made to promote my review of this movie on YouTube:

So, what do you guys think? Of the film? My review? And the video I made?

I've yet to see the film so I can't exactly give an opinion on it.

Even though I'm still anxiously waiting for Madagascar 4, if that doesn't pull through then I'm glad that this movie finally helps the Zoosters gain some closure on where they truly belong.

I honestly had a lot more fun with this movie than I did the first two.

Out of the three movie I like Europe most wanted the most
