Short Version: I may have trouble writing for a while.
Long Version:
I'm I'm in am absolutely foul mood right now. First of all, I dropped my current phone (the one I use to write my stories) into a bathtub full of water. Understandably, this did not agree with my little phone, but I'm due for an upgrade anyway, so it wasn't a huge issue. I had to pop into town anyway, so stopping off at my phone provider while I was there was simple enough.
I found the phone I wanted, but got roped in by the clerk's mention of a phone with less storage, but a more powerful processor. Since I've barely hit half of the storage on my current phone, and the phone they offered still had double that, I thought it sounded like a good idea. It's a couple of pounds more a month, but that's not too bad. I take the phone home (Oppo A72 if you're wondering), and begin setting it up.
Then the problems started.
First, it kept disconnecting from my WiFi randomly while doing initial updates. Checked router, no issue, checked with wife's phone, no issue, then I discover that the phone is literally turning it's own WiFi settings on and off for no apparent reason. I tried restarting it, and that apparently worked, so I continued setting it up.
Then came time to transfer apps and data from the old phone. I managed to get the current phone working enough to transfer the data, only for the connection to suddenly crap out. I assumed it was to do with the waterlogged phone, so I tested transferring data between the waterlogged phone and an even older spare phone.
It worked perfectly.
Try again with new phone, connection keeps crapping out still. Finally give up and decide to use mobile data.
No Sim.
Excuse me?! Sim is in phone, in correct place and right way around, WHY AREN'T YOU READING IT?!
Starting to lose temper, I go online on old spare phone to contact customer services. Do everything they suggest, still no luck. Even tried returning phone to factory settings (which, given that it was less than an hour out of the box, it still was, but that didn't work either.
Then the helper tells me to perform a hard reset. A hard reset? On a BRAND NEW PHONE?!?!?!?! If a phone needs a hard reset the second it comes out of the box just to finish setting it up then I'm pretty sure that's A PRETTY F©>°«|@g SH$|~Y PHONE.
Also, the hard reset didn't work either.
So I've got to go back to the shop tomorrow to swap the new steaming turd for the phone I originally wanted. Unfortunately, I checked the waterlogged phone to make sure it had enough charge for tomorrow only to find that it's entirely fried.
Even more unfortunately, that phone contains a very large portion of my writing stuff. For now, I'm using my old spare phone, but I can't access google docs on it so I can't access my saved stories. I'll hopefully get a decent phone tomorrow, but it's going to take me a while to get everything back up and running.
If I'm lucky, it'll only take a few hours and I can get right back to it (which, regrettably, means that the weekly Fallout Girls update will be a few hours late), but I'm not holding out much hope right now.
Wish me luck, and I'll get back to writing as soon as humanly possible.

That's awful man, I'm sorry to hear that.
Dunno how the fuck a phone could be so bad, but if I were in your shoes I'd definitely be untrusting of whatever model that phone was again.
That freaking sucks dude, hope you can get it all fixed tomorrow but even if it is fixed... if you need to take a week or so off from writing to destress after all this none of us would blame you

Oh, shit, that fucking sucks. I just found this post when I was checking for an update. Sorry to hear that. Oh, well, hopefully it comes on a more convenient day of the week.
I'd sell you my old computer, but I'm not confident I could ship it safely or if you could afford it since I kinda need to make up for the money I used on the new one. Hope things get sorted.

Thankfully everything is sorted now and I've got a new phone and a tablet for writing purposes, and I managed to salvage the data from the old waterlogged phone, so we're all sorted.
