Fulfilling Pinkie's Dream is going to have a wait just a bit longer. · 8:51pm Sep 20th, 2020

I'm still on with blogging about this story, I know. Just a bit longer and I'll post it.

Now sitting at over 46 thousand words and being subjected to numerous rewrites, I imagine anyone who's been following my blogs just assumed it was another thing I talked about doing and just never did.

But it is done.

Part of why it's taken so long is just my complete lack of comprehension on what exactly third-person limited really means. I get it now after having it explained to me half a dozen times but it's meant a lot of rethinking how I've been writing since I started my account in 2014. I set out to make myself work and not only have I accomplished that but surely strained the patience of my editor and prereaders who have been nothing short of phenomenal helping me work through my difficulties. Firesight has done a full pass on my story while working on his own stories and pronounced the story good to go. Clopficsinthecomments, my resident third-person limited narrator expert and all-around good guy, has even less free time than him and what little he has is tied up in interacting with quite a number of people in the fandom in addition to writing his own stories. For this reason, my draft isn't ready to go until he's had his readthrough and say so on the material.

What I am willing to report so far is that he likes what he sees and has made some progress on it. I can't make any ironclad predictions on how long it will take — he is just using what little time he has — but I'm thinking the end of September or the beginning of October for a site release.

I don't feel at all bad for the story taking this long, honestly. I have the free time to make what few stories I write look really good and have no clock I'm struggling against. Why not release the story in as a good a state as I can?

The only thing left I can say about it is dear god are there a lot of sex scenes in this. Expect a list of fetishes a mile long too in the story's long description. I'm not sure if that's a plus or a minus given people will tune out for certain ones but I'm just reporting on the facts.

Considering how much I loved reading it--hit a whole lot of buttons, there! I have high hopes it will do well for you, building on the success of your last two story launches, which resulted in features.

Yeah, I know it was a struggle, but you learned a lot by doing it, and not just about third person limited. Actually, so did I, as it forced me to think in ways I wasn't used to and get good and recognizing 3rd person omni vs 3rd person limited. I've never really cared that much about perspective when it comes to my own stories, so this was an education for me, too.

I'm glad to have helped and even though the preread was a slog at times, that's only because I was trying to be my usual meticulous self even for such a large story, and well... I had to *cough* stop now and again, which is about the highest compliment I can give!

It's going to require a minor miracle to feature given I'm going to have to roll out the release over a few days. I'm hoping for the best though!
