I've been busy - something I've talked about for so long is finally happening! · 6:00pm Sep 16th, 2020
Ladies and Djentlemen, I have been busy today. Not only did I put on a clean and fresh pair of jeans and instantly get them filthy with fine wood shavings, but I've finally been doing something to occupy my time while simultaneously spending time with my dad for the first time in a long time.
I was debating keeping this quiet until it was actually all done with, but I have been attempting my first hand at customising / modding my very first guitar, the Squier Bullet Mustang which I featured about three years ago in February announcing its arrival to my home and punk-loving hands. Since coming into my ownership, my dreams for it have been about pulling it apart to see how it all works beneath the bonnet and giving it a few touch-ups to make it roar.
First, I must do something about that pasty, anorexic-looking white-ish satin neck. So, I spend some time giving it a proper sanding via guide from a long-time guitar enthusiast and player and copying his methods. Once that was done, I gave it some varnish stain to give it a deeper colour. It's looking pretty good, but not much else can be done until the stain dries and it can be sanded yet again. I'll be working on it tomorrow and probably for the rest of the week given I can get all I need on time. Looks are secondary to performance, so this comes first and then I'm gonna poke around in the wires and have some fun.
For so long I've wanted to get this done! All this boredom of sitting around feeling fat and useless, it's finally a good time to start. I really want to show you before and after photos so you can make up the difference for yourselves, but I also want to do better and show you how this thing sounds once it's all done and dusted.
Oh, and as a bonus, it's not my only project that's been given some attention. There is another baby in my care that I found more recently, but I'll wait and show it off when the guitar is finished with. And yes, stop wondering about if it's pretty or not because it is. If you think not, y'all got no passion in your soul, sister.
Anywho, I'mma sit here some more and dream about holding and playing the finished product. So, if you'll excuse me...
