(OLD) What I Want to Do in my Fics: Subversion

In a show that usually plays it straight with its tropes, I'm interested in subverting expectations.

For instance, AJ, a tomboy would also do traditionally feminine activities like cooking, babysitting and nursing. And she would also me the most maternal of the group. And would teach Fluttershy, the other maternal pony, how to be a better mom figure.

And Rarity though very snobbish, would also be the most humanitarian pony of the bunch. And how she would have dreams of creating a world where all pony could pursue their dreams without others crushing them. Instead of treating poor people like they would be poor she would treat them with respect and dignity as if they were nobility. And Rarity being a creative pony would be the only one to treat Pinkie Pie as an intelligent mare and not as just a crazed womanchild. And she would often criticize Twilight for treating her like a child instead of a self respecting adult.

Overall I really want to explore their characters and explore new dimensions with them in my fanfics.

To me the FIM was a very good show but I think it fell short of its potential. I wish FIM took itself more seriously instead of being so comedic. And I wish they would've subverted character archetypes a bit more. But's that okay! FIM is still a good show and it was revolutionary for subverting what a girl's show ought to be.

But what I want to do is do even more interesting stuff in the form of fanfiction. I might deviate from the canon or give alternate character interpretations from time to time.

But I do hope that to write something truly exciting. Thank you for reading my first REAL blogpost.

It will take time for me to write a fanfic but it will be done.
