Good evening, friends! Here is my review of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Here we have the final movie of the Star Wars Original Trilogy where we see Luke Skywalker’s journey come to an end. While this film is really not as great as a lot of people make it out to be, it is still an epic conclusion to the OG Trilogy. We finally see our main villain Darth Vader preparing for his final fight against his own son Skywalker as revealed from the last movie. If I am honest with you all, the first act of the film was boring and out of place for me personally. The only things that made it more enjoyable were the parts with Vader and Luke. While it is also better than A New Hope, it is still no better than its predecessor. So here are the rest of my thoughts on it:

Story: It was boring at first, but it quickly made up for it by following up the revealed father and son relationship between Vader and Luke. It was amazing that the writers connected the villain with the hero to the point where it created conflict between the two within the story. This conflict drove the plot in a dynamic and intriguing way that keeps the viewers interested and feel sympathy for the villain and the hero. It was so moving and well executed.

Characters: Luke was great in this film as faithfully portrayed by Mark Hamill. To be honest, I like him the most in this movie because we actually see him develop more into a great character. Additionally, after he finally accepted the truth from his father and understanding the meaning behind Kenobi’s words in regards to Vader’s past, he held on to the hope that there was still good in Vader. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT! A hero having hopes for the murderous villain?! Wow!! Great development right there! No matter how low Vader had fallen, Luke believed there was still good in him!

And look how that played out! At the end of the movie, Vader redeemed himself by killing Emperor Palpatine/ Darth Sideous and saving the life of his son. As he was dying from Sideous’s lightning power, he cast one last good look at his heroic son saying, “Tell your sister... you were right...” So powerful and moving. Basically, he fulfilled the prophecy of bringing balance to the force at the very end and destroying the Sith. Quite amazing, isn’t it?

Oh, and speaking of Leia... I find it very disturbing that this movie revealed to us that Leia is actually Luke’s sister... yet she kissed him on the lips in the last movie. I’m gonna say it.

SWEET HOME ALABAMA!!

Everything else: That aside, the animation was mediocre, the designs of the alien animals and creatures were atrocious, the soundtrack was great, the acting and voice acting (at least from James Earl Jones for Vader) were amazing, the first act was boring and stupid, and the pacing was... okay. That’s just about it. So I give this movie a 7/10.

So this trilogy had its ups and downs such as the bad animation and horrible designs of the creatures and aliens, but it was still ahead of its time. The Empire Strikes Back is the best one out of this trilogy. Surely, things will not get any worse for this franchise right? RIGHT????

Peace.

Not a bad rating.

I don't care what anyone says. Vader's awesome character development makes this the best Star Wars movie of all time for me. :rainbowdetermined2:
