    I'm done for a while

Yesterday I made a blog and, to put it lightly, it took less than six hours for it to turn into an absolute shitshow. That blog was specifically to air the fact that I was feeling a personal crisis of conscience and was largely mocked for it where the blog's comment section didn't just dissolve into a batshit fucking loco mess of luchadores on ketamine baiting trolls and then getting run over by

    Update Bug: We Are Legion

For some reason Fimfiction is timestamping the recent updates for Legion as being half a year ago, so if you’re not getting updates, that’s why.

    Secrets of Legion

Alright everyone we're taking a short break from Dead by Midnight to learn exactly what it is that happened to the CMC that led to their descent into Killer-dom as the savage Legion. I'm going to be posting two chapters a week on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Hope you all enjoy reading their story.

    Cheers,

Story Plug: Magica Ex Dolori · 11:19pm Aug 26th, 2020

I'm going open this by saying it is hard to write a good crossover, and that's not even going into the fact that you're essentially dividing up your reader base.

Crossover stories are exceptionally niche by their very nature. It requires the readers to be a part of, or at least be able to appreciate, what may be two extremely different fandoms. But what makes a crossover truly difficult to write is it requires the author to extract the essential elements of two completely different stories, then somehow weave them together into a coherent narrative.

To clarify: I only barely feel like I managed that with Dead by Sunset.

So with that preface, let me tell you about a story that I feel nailed the expression of a crossover in the form of Magica Ex Dolori by Posh.

I don't feel like it's out of place to assume most people who are reading this have probably at least heard of the incredible, and incredibly depressing, subversion of the classic Magical Girl anime genre that is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. For those who haven't, I highly recommend watching the Director's Cut version available on numerous streaming sites.

Now obviously, Equestria Girls is an excellent vehicle for this crossover, itself having its own element of Magical Girl tropes. This does an incredible job casting Wallflower Blush as the lead, taking full advantage of her awkward but good-natured intentions, her desire to make an impact and do the right thing, and for those of you who have seen Madoka Magica, you probably can guess how tragic this tale might turn.

Now the story isn't done yet, but I highly recommend giving what's there a read. It's definitely worth your time, it was most certainly worth mine.

Cheers,

I have the story marked as something I really want to read- but am afraid to read...

I know how dark it could be and I'm kinda afraid that Ill fall in love with the way Wallflower is written, to the point where the potential ending is just way too emotionally crushing.

If that makes sense?

I might still read it anyway, to learn how to write better crossover stories- if I can ever get myself to write.

Understandable. In that same sense, I don't expect Dead by Sunset to appeal to everyone either. It is worth pointing out though, that Madoka Magica had a happy(ish), if melancholy, ending.

yeah, I also feel like I should start reading some Wallflower fics just in general, in case I decide to write one of my many SunFlower ship fic ideas...

Still, it will probably be a scenario where I'll wait until the story finishes first before I binge read it all... that tends to be how I intake a lot of the darker, bittersweet, fics with my favorite characters.

5343411
That's fair. Have you read the SunFlower stuff I've been dropping en masse?

5343414
I was going to read them after the second one, but then I realized that you're probably gonna do like... a mini-series of writing? Now it's up to five... so I figure I'll also wait on those.

Don't worry, I have been introduced to the glory of SunFlower, so I have them marked for my Sunset list! Lol

5343401 this is a fair concern, as the author, in addition to being incredibly handsome and talented, writes a very good wallflower blush.

and if being meguca is suffering, then being wallguca must be doubly so.

On the plus side, it has spaghetti. :pinkiehappy:

And once you're caught up, if you want to watch more girls suffering, give this show a watch. Selector WIXOSS is insanely underappreciated, and I will continue to plug it until I die.

the irony of me tending to avoid stories with character tragedies like this has never been lost to me, especially since I had to write a creative short story about a lesson that I had to learn with writing ... and mine was about letting your main character die (and why elves were evil).

Also, I'm evil, i don't like spaghetti.

...
My to-read list already has too many things on it.
...
Arrrrrrrrghokay fine I guess it has one more now. :D
Don't know when/if I'll actually get to it, because see above, but thanks for the recommendation. :)

(Also, what does the Director's Cut add or change, if you don't mind me asking? I watched the series years ago, but I think it was just the base version.)
