I won a writing contest! (somehow) · 11:03pm Aug 9th, 2020
So those of you who read my stuff may have noticed a certain link in the description of my latest story. This leads directly to the Right Back At It Again! 2020 Shipping Competition, a contest hosted by FamousLastWords. The goal of the contest was to write about a ship that was popular during the early seasons of the show, these spanning 1-4.
Well, I gave it a shot, and here are the results:

The story I wrote for the contest that placed first was Project Rita, a fic about Vinyl Scratch joining a program of the title name and getting to visit her future with Octavia in an alternate reality.
The story didn't garner a lot of views, and I can pretty much guess why. The story was darker than most of the entries in the contest. However, it was doing well in the popular box for some time and even got featured for a brief moment. The really killer was when the dislike bombers swooped in and kicked me out of my spot, barley everyone saw it. What a relief that it won then!
I have no plans to write a sequel or spin-off to the story (unlike The Bubble, which is planned to be an anthology). However, I do have plans to deep-dive into the story and revise much of it. This includes adding in new scenes to make the flow work better and fill in all the gaps I think need filling. There was also criticism about some of the sentences being too difficult to read, and really that was all because I made the mistake of only looking for my editor's notes without reading the story in full. Looking back now, there was so much I missed. That will all be fixed soon.
Nonetheless, my ego has been successfully stroked by this new development. I've been on this site since 2014, and I'm happy some of the time I put into writing is finally paying off, even if it's in the late stages of Fimfiction.
I do want to put in more of a commitment to push content out, however, I find it very stressful to write at a consistent pace. Honestly, I don't know how many of you do it. I typically only write when I have an idea I want to run with, and that depends on how well the story develops in the first draft. I will try to put in more of an effort to push stories out frequently, along with a few blogs I've been planning to write for a very long time.
If you have already, go read Project Rita. However, if you have the time, you should read these other two entries:

You smell beautiful today. Are you wearing the cologne I bought you, or did you wash your ass twice this morning?
Good job, Muggony. You certainly deserved your honor, and if you want, I could help you with making sure more of your stories hit publication from inception. After all, I've often got the writing chops, but find myself short on ideas. Birds of a feather, am I right?
Seriously; as a person who submitted a TaVinyl story as well, I thank you, one musician-shipper to another.
