My number one least favorite cliche · 6:44am Aug 5th, 2020
Out of the cliches, my absolutely least-favorite cliches and one of my personal pet peeve would be Damsel in Distress.
The reason why I’m not big fan of that cliche is because all they do is get themselves kidnapped by a bad guy so in order to make hero look good.
And I am sorry for Mario Bros fans but is there’s a game (not counting spin-offs) where Princess Peach get herself kidnapped by Bowser? I mean seriously, if I was Mario, I would eventually get very tired of rescuing her many times that it make me go "You know what? I’m going to rescue you, Peach! You on your own! Rescue yourself instead"
But she’s nothing compare to Mary Jane Fucking Watson from Raimi’s Spider-Man movies.
Sure, Raimi’s Spider-Man movies (except the third one) are great but my god! She’s absolutely annoyed me a lot because in every Raimi Spider-Man movies, she always get herself kidnapped by a main villain and she screams a lot! (I prefer MJ from PS4 Spider-Man game or even MCU MJ).
Oh! There was a scene from original Superman where a woman with a baby was standing on a road when a giant object about to fall on her and she didn’t bother to move at all! (Woman! Move your leg!)
That’s why I prefer Action Girls because at least, they manages to free themselves more than damsel in distress.
Sorry, I just want to get off my chest but I just get so annoyed when a female character let themselves get kidnapped for no good reason and start screaming a lot.
