    There's where you go.

If you don't have money, fair enough. I've been there, done that. If you do and don't care, fuck off.

    The zines are for sale.

I'll just bump you folks over to twitter for details, but the short version is they're $5 each, $2 USA shipping, $4 international, and I have two pony ones, A Twilight Trio (Unhorsed, Apex, Dreaming of Dragons) and Tender is the Night.

    It exists. :3

That, my friends, is a zine, or a tiny, handmade book, containing three of my recent stories. Right now I'm working on getting them out to the Patrons, and after that I will be selling them in some way or another.

    Zines! AKA tiny books!

I never managed to get on the pony book bandwagon. I just... self publishing is hard, okay? :P But zines are at least marginally less hard, I only have to wrestle with Libre Office, not with some printer's completely unfamiliar absolutely everything.

    Any Hades fans out there?

I do actually have a pony story coming up! (On Patreon on Monday, here on Fimfic on Wednesday! Just a cute little erotica short, but it's one I particularly liked!)

But I'm also currently in the middle of writing Hades story number four in just the last week, so, uh... On a bit of a roll there!

Blogging controversial shit while buzzed, will probably be gone tomorrow. · 1:44am Aug 3rd, 2020

I remember, a few years back, trying to talk to a certain brony author who had literally quit his day job in order to write his AMAZING novel, who then got nothing but rejection, and began going on rather heated rants about the liberal agenda in schools and the way that literature had been taken over by some kind of cabal of women, POC, and trans folks, and that as a white cis man he was being shut out. There was an unspoken "Those women, POC, and trans people are getting published just for being what they are, while my quality manuscript is being rejected!"

I almost want to hit him up right now and give him a fucking piece of my mind, because although I did not quit my day job, I do have a novel (I have several, but this is the first finished, serious, "not just a romance novel" novel I've done since getting to a point where I feel I'm skilled enough for publication) and despite being transgender and thus theoretically "in" this cabal of his, I am getting NOTHING BUT REJECTION.

Tbh, there aren't any agents/publishers I could find that are seeking trans people specifically. POC right now, yes, and that's good! LGBT+ as a generic term yes, and that's also good (though my rejections have all come from those folks!) but not trans people.

And I guess the novel isn't specifically trans rep, it's more bisexual rep, so probably it doesn't matter anyway.

But the way some white cis guys get all completely butthurt when somebody makes any move to be more inclusive makes me want to scream. PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE UP 98% OF THE NOVELS I'VE READ IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, FUCKWIT. Wanting to enlarge the REST OF THE GODDAMN WORLD past that tiny 2% fraction that's mostly white cis women isn't bad, fucker! I'm sorry you're getting rejected, but it's very likely that has at least as much to do with the content of your manuscript or your query letter as anything else, to be honest. There is no "conspiracy", there's just people who'd like to see literature flinging open doors that have historically been barely cracked.

Bigotry is sadly a common thread in railing against "the liberal machine". That sexist physicist who gave a talk a year or two ago on how women are inferior scientists made a big point to complain about his rejections and lack of advancement, blaming it on women even though there are few female physicists so even if his conspiracy theories were true it almost certainly had nothing to do with his lack of success.

It's pretty transparent that bigotry is used specifically as an excuse to justify one's own obvious failings. That's one of the biggest motivations for bigotry in the first place. It's funny how they can't ever seem to resist making that point, laying their own insecurities bare for all to see—and it's doubly ironic when it's in the sciences, because one data point is not remotely useful as a scientific argument.

I don’t feel like this should be controversial. I don’t know who you’re talking about but it does sound all too easy to happen. Arguing against that is definitely worthwhile.

Many things that shouldn't be controversial are. I mean, the shit I've seen dumped on people who say "fuck off Nazis" is absurd.

5327876
Very true. Why I’m glad you’re here saying it anyway.

Fuck it, this ain't controversial. I know exactly who you're talking about and he's a fuckwit for multiple reasons, this little tantrum you're referencing is just the cherry atop the "I'm a faux intellectual shithead who thought he was Hemmingway" sundae.

I'm morbidly curious to know who it is, so I can stop giving them clicks. I don't want to call a brigade of regressive assholes on anyone though, so if you're not comfortable replying that's fine.

The guy you are talking about sounds like a homophobic, sexiest, and racist piece of work that is/was throwing a tantrum because others seen it in his work or attitude.

5327960
nah, not gonna dunk in public.

5327960
Given they had this tantrum in a public Fimfic blog a year or two back, if you were following them, you'd know who it was.

Just ignore him; he's not worth your time.

lmao look at that salty single downvote on everything. what a maroon.

I'm sorry SPark, shouldn't have to listen to assholes like that in this day and age. For what little its worth I still enjoy your horsewords, and am sure you're other work is just as good.

I've had a couple experiences tangentially related, both involving a gay friend of mine.

First, my friend spent a couple months at a job I had worked for years. He found one of my coworkers attractive and, since there was already an open lesbian working there, decided to come out. He didn't make a show of it or make a pass at this guy, just a casual mention to put the line out and see if anybody showed interest. Anyways, he complained to me a month or two later that afterwards he felt that everybody was avoiding him. I genuinely didn't see it and I was left to wonder if he was just projecting his fears or it was actually happening. I still dont know because I continued to work there for a couple years after he left and nobody but him ever said anything to me about it.

The second experience was something of a polar opposite to the first. One of our discussions a while back was about how "straight cis" centric our world is. Radio, TV, books, movies, magazines, advertisements of all kinds. Unless it is blatantly targeting a group, it defaults to straight cis. Anyways, I read a fair number of web comics. About a year ago a number of them delved into cast bios and revealed that a majority of the characters across multiple strips and authors were somewhere within the LGBTQ spectrum. For a bizzare moment I was slightly ostricised by that because that's just not the way I swing. And then I had an epiphany. That's how my friend feels. All the time.

That said, the prospective author talked about in the blog is horribly unhinged and I agree he is hiding his insecurities and shortcomings behind his bigotry.
