    Never Forget

My Fellow Americans will know without my even needing to say what.

I remember it very clearly. I lived only 30 minutes north of NYC. I was in my 6th grade math class when the first plane hit. There was an announcement on the loudspeaker, and everyone went silent. For about a minute. Then there were murmurs, then gasps, then cries.

    "My [family member] works there!"

    That's It For Now

So yeah, the last publishable chapter of DaD (for now) is up. I'm still working on the next ones, as well as the prequel (which I think needs a little more attention at the moment), so it's gonna be a little while before more chapters come up. The Author's Note for this chapter also has a few things to say.

    Need Some Ideas...

Like the title says, I need some ideas, but because I'm looking for a little diversity, I'm gonna keep this really brief (and perhaps a bit vague):

    Next Installment is Up

And I say 'installment' because you're getting (technically) three chapters today. They all flow together and I couldn't really publish them separately (the second is more of a 'point-five' chapter, and the title alone will give away what it is).

Next Chapters Are Up (and a question)

And boy, have I been waiting to do so. This is a two-parter, and while the combined length really is about the same as one chapter would be, there's a reason I split it. And it's the reason I'm so excited to get 'em out. :yay:

    Hope you enjoy!

DaD Updates! · 1:43pm July 27th

Hey, Folks! I've got good news!

It's what you're most likely suspecting: I'll be publishing the next chapter of DaD soon. Ideally tomorrow—I've set up some time with my editor today, but you never know when things might get in the way—but definitely this week. I've been wanting to get further down the line before I start publishing again so I could just have a straight shot of updates for months, but I think it's time I send something out. One of the reasons I didn't do it earlier is because I didn't really want to leave you off on the chapter I'm planning to, but I think it's okay if I do. I had a reason for it, but I think it's minor enough that I can put it aside and start publishing again. I just want to have that chapter (64) ready before I do. It'll be a total of seven chapters, but there are two multi-parters, and I'll be updating all of the parts at the same time, so there's only a month's worth, unfortunately. Still, better than nothing, right?

So there's something else— depending on who you are, you may consider this bad news, but I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

I was waffling on it for a good while, and I even started creating an alternate, but I've made an executive decision: I'm discontinuing the Cast List. Aside from the fact that how I was going about it was just unnecessary to some degree, I also realized that this late in the story, introducing too many more named OCs is just overkill. That doesn't mean there won't be any more, but the ones that are currently in upcoming chapters (I can tell you) aren't really so crucial that you need to remember them in detail long term. Besides that, I've actually written their descriptions into the narrative (what a novel idea); the lack of which for some of the early characters was one of the initial reasons for the list in the first place.

So here's the plan— I'm temporarily closing the cast list to the public. I'm going to give it a little revamp to make it look cleaner (said revamp has been completed and the cast list is once again open to the public), but I'm leaving in all the information that's already there. One of the reasons I had been worried about how the document was laid out was that if people did a ctrl-F to find a character that had a status update later in the list, they might have accidentally been jumped to the update too early, and thus be stuck with spoilers. I've come up with a solution for that: I've created a separate Character Update List (now live), which will have a link to it either 1) at the header of the chapter on the cast list where it occurs, or 2) if and when more updates occur after the end of the cast list (chapter 57), in the Author's Note itself along with the link to the cast list (the cast list will still be linked in every chapter going forward). After each update number, the font for the updates themselves will be white, which you will then need to highlight to read so you don't accidentally get a later update spoiled. I'll explain this again at the top of both lists.

I do believe that's everything. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm excited to send out another chapter to you guys! :yay:

Until next time! Stay safe out there!

I'm looking forward to reading more! Hope you're doing well, Dasher.

Cool, looking forward to it.

Hmmm, either I never noticed you were taking OCs, or I forgot to throw my hat in the ring... or forgot that I did. I suppose this is the part where I do? Heh, sorta, but not in the normal way, rather if you have use for him the way I designed him, you're welcome to use him, and that way being that he runs a night time only donut shop in a converted carriage house in the dusk district of lower Canterlot/old Canterlot (does that even fit into your canon?). Yeah, if the characters need a bite to eat and happen to be down in the bat district (formerly immigrant district, formerly the mud pony district), I'd love to appear.

Hmm. Not sure where you got the idea that I was currently accepting OCs. I was looking for candidates a loooooooooooong time ago (back in August of 2016) for dates for Cotton's friends to their dance back in the day, but I haven't been accepting them since then, nor do I intend to. Sorry. :fluttershysad:
Interesting character, though.

Laughs, "Oh I know that, and acknowledged it in my message, but didn't let it stop me from marketing my character because it'd be a blast to make an appearance, but only if'n the character happened to fit your needs rather than tweaking him to the universe as I've done before. Didn't expect you to take me up on it of course though."

Thinking about it, I really need to decide which of my universes he belongs in, the Third Choice universe, or the unnamed one where Sunset returns, ascends, becomes Luna's apprentice, and Luna surrenders her title as Princess.
