New Idea, Shift Summoning · 1:11am Jul 19th, 2020
So, if you've ever played Duel Monsters or watched any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, you'll know that over the years, they keep introducing new gimmicks. 5D's introduced Synchro Summoning, Zexal introduced XYZ cards, ARC 5 introduced Pendulum Summoning, and VRAINS introduced Link Monsters. I've got an idea for a new gimmick, which I call Shift Summoning. A few ideas have been tossed around in my head, and I'm having trouble with more specifics. I'll list the ideas that I have right now, and I'd love to hear your ideas
One idea was that Shift Summoning allows you to summon a new monster by "Shifting" which involves using a special spell card I haven't thought of yet. Basically, shifting allows you move certain monsters known as Shift Monsters in a specific order that activates a special effect, allowing you to Shift Summon a monster, but each Shift Summon has a specific order, if one card is in the wrong place, a Shift Summon won't work.
Another idea is that Shift Summoning allows you to flip a face up monster back to face down. This may seem worthless, but bear with me. While the card is face down, it cannot be attacked, but it cannot attack either. In order for the monster to attack, a Shift Monster, similar to Tuner Monsters must be sacrificed, and a Shift Summon in this way causes the monster that was flipped to face down to gain a a boost of 50% of their Attack and Defense. So if a Blue-Eyes White Dragon was Shift Summoned in this way, it would gain 1500 ATK and 1250 DEF, but it can't be Shift Summoned until a Shift Material monster has been given as tribute
Interesting there.
Wonder what ideas have you thought up too?
