also we are very annoyed about like
putting a lot of effort into our writing and seemingly having almost no one enjoy it
it's like ten stories in a row or something that probably would have done better if we were a complete nobody writing about random gibberish
be honest: are we just legitimately terrible at this? because it feels like we are.

You write good, it's just that you're writing at the end of the fandom's life. Were you here in 2012-2015 and pushing out similar quality stuff you would easily gotten 400-500+ likes on each story, but since the show has ended the fandom has quieted down a lot, especially on this site.
Nah, you're pretty darn good at it. But you also write all over the spectrum due to commissions, etc. I have selective tastes so only some of what you write piques my interest. Das all.
Bad at writing? No that’s not it, it’s that the commissions you do only appeal to certain people, but I think your writing is still pretty good

I agree, absolutely: darf writes well & demonstrated that skill "all over the spectrum due to commissions", though I don't read all of darf's works since only certain topics & themes interest me; for example, the "Content Warning" for the tagged Mature story lists at least one thing that doesn't appeal to me.

As others have already stated, it's a mix of different factors - the show reaching its twilight years and a corresponding decrease in traffic on FiMFiction, plus a very varied repertoire on your end mean that only a subset of a declining number of readers will read your works. I know that I'm a darf fan, but I don't read each and every of your stories because some of them are very much for a different audience (I'm also sitting on a FimFic pile of shame to boot).
You're a damn good writer, darf, but things have slowed down considerably here. The golden age of pony is over...

I think your porn is the funniest that I've read. Unironically. Although, I would almost consider your porn stories as well-written, comedic shit-posts than actual porn. As far as fanfiction writing goes, you are not too bad. Give yourself some credit.
