The Colors We Paint: the Thought Process Behind Writing "The Colors We Wish For"

Hello, Sunlight Rays here, and I’m here with another Writing Of blog post. It’s been a hot minute since the last time I did this; I didn’t do this for… More than two years. Jeez. But I feel the need to write a blog post accompanying this new story of mine. As in, I have to write this. Because this is the most personal story I’ve written since End of the Line, and The

    It never gets easier...

Hey guys, Sunlight Rays here, and I'm back with another blog.

It might as well be the last blog post I make in a very long while.

It's... well, this ain't easy no matter how many times I do it. It never gets easier. I don't think it ever will. But it has to be done, doesn't it? So I'll do it. It's going to be painful, but I'll still do it.

August Report: Lots of Things to Come

Hey guys, Sunlight Rays here, and I'm back for a brief update on how things are going.

The last blog was a bit of a vent, and I apologize if I made anyone uncomfortable with it. I assure you I'm feeling better. Not substantially, but at least by a bit.

    Status Report: Sick of Myself

Sunlight Rays here, with another blog post.

As you can most likely tell from the title, I am not doing so well. I don't lie with the titles I make, after all.

Recent events have had me think about myself: about the things I've done, both to others and myself, and their consequences, about how I've constantly failed others' and my own expectations.

April ~ June Wrap Up: Three In One Package

Alright, it's been a very, very long time since the last time I did anything like this. It was for a good reason, too, as we all know. (wink wink)

But all in all, since I restarted writing back in April, let's start counting the words from there, shall we?

So I've some good news and bad news... · 5:06pm Jul 1st, 2020

Which do you want first?

Nah, I'm just kidding, I'll go with the good news first.
So I wrote another story other than the Nightmare Moon fic I'm working on, and you can expect it to be published sometime in the next 24 hours!
It's something I haven't done before; a Slice-of-Life story written in the present tense was certainly an adventure for me. Thankfully my editor RandomGuy101 was there to help me out with it. I couldn't have completed the story without his help.
So, anyway, I'll be uploading the story soon, and you all can expect to see it in a few hours!

For the bad news, I won't be that active in July.
I tallied up the number of assignments and assessments we had in July. Turns out we have 12 assessments in the first half of July alone, followed by finals from the 25th to 29th of July. In other words, it's going to be one of the most chaotic months I've seen in my life, and I won't have much time to write.
It also means that I'll be receiving test papers for my 18th birthday present. Joy.

Once I put this new story out there, I won't be able to update things for a long time, not until August at the earliest.
So... you'd better enjoy my new story because it's going to be my last story update on this site for probably a month or so. Don't worry, I'll return in August. Just don't expect me to do much during July.

SunlightRays out.

Blimey, that sounds rough. Been a while since I've felt the heat of assessments and so on. Ah, memories of the last-minute pressure. :pinkiecrazy:

Good luck with all those tests and things, SunlightRays. I hope it goes well for you.

Many thanks for your kind words of encouragement! It's been more than six months since the last time I faced something like this—cough cough corona cough cough—but that doesn't mean I won't be able to survive. The question is will I be able to survive with both my grades and psyche in one piece, to which I would say it's possible.

I'll notify you guys when that story goes live, by the way.
