A while back, I posted a rough drawing I made of my own redesign of Superman's outfit. This is a slightly updated version, with longer arms, the dark blue segments brightened somewhat, and an adjusted symbol.
My idea is that this version of Superman is younger than most incarnations–mid 20's or so–and the suit is made up of nanocrystal technology brought along in his spacecraft from Krypton. It would have a sort of psionic link to Kal-El, so whenever he switches from Clark to Superman and back again, the suit materializes itself outward rather than simply being kept under his usual clothing.
It's not visible here, but I imagined a sort of "half-triangle" shape pattern trailing down from the "S" on the back of the cape. I got the idea from this drawing (and in fact, it's also where I got the idea for the darker segments of the suit), but it's more etched into the cape itself rather than being thick black lines like in the source.
The higher collar and red highlights on the neck and sleeves were taken from the New-52 design, while the darker red on the boots and outer layer of the cape were meant to emulate the Superman Returns look.
In addition, I've also made two other color variants; one loosely inspired by the Kingdom Come Superman look, and the other a black/gray variant.
