Daring Do and the Red Shoe Diary

For years, since nearly the start of the series' rise to international fame, the rumors have persisted: Was there an adult-oriented Daring Do story? Has our intrepid explorer gone down paths far more sordid and saucy than her audience could have imagined?

New Red Shoes Chapter is Live!

After far too long of a hiatus, Red Shoes is officially back with a new chapter!

This time, we'll be hearing from the co-owner of Sugarcube Corner, who has a saucy but sympathetic tale to tell.

I hope you enjoy, and let me know in the comments. Cheers, all!

    Red Shoe Diaries: The Return

    *blows the dust off*

Yikes. I let this sit for way, WAY too long. As I'm typing this I'm realizing it's been 4 years, since this story last updated. That's horrendous, and also entirely my fault. True, lots of life has happened to me, and then there's the world going mad besides. But still, I should NOT have let this story lapse like this. For that, readers, you have my apologies.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Been with family most of the day, but wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

This has admittedly been a crappy year for me, but I AM very thankful for all of you. Your support means the world, and I'm glad y'all are here.

In the comments, let me know what your fave Turkey Day desserts are!

Letting Everyone (and myself) Down · 7:52am Jun 29th, 2020

I've lost count of the number of times I've said something like the following to myself: "I'm so exhausted by the daily grind. If I could take a few months sabbatical at work, I could get so much writing done. It'd be awesome!"

Well, thanks to a 3 month furlough from work, I've got that break I always wanted.

Unfortunately, that furlough was caused by a pandemic that's killed too many people already and turned the entire job market upside down, led to my wife and I thanking heaven every day we don't get a call saying we've been laid off anyway - and oh yeah, the rest of the world's on fire on top of it.

So yeah, kinda hard to write or be creative when every day is a new stress roller coaster. Really has me feeling like I'm letting y'all down here. Yes pony fics aren't the most important thing in the world right now. I agree. But y'all have supported me so much all these years and now I've got all the time in the world to write and I just can't get the ideas onto paper. Ugh. My drafts folder is piling up again, I just can't get into that groove I'm so used to.

Anyone else having similar issues lately? Or is it just me stumbling over my own two feet here.

Anyway, enough self loathing from me. Stay safe, folks, and mask up. I'll keep plugging away as best I can, I promise.

I think we can let your not writing slide given all the other new everyday stress.

Take care of yourself and stay safe my dude. I've been letting people down my entire life, so this is old hat for me.

Take it from the king of procrastination; no one is being let down. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Just keep on keeping on.

You're good with us, Moff. Likecyou said, life has been stressful enough lately and that definitely affects creativity. You all just take care and stay safe, please!

No worries, my dude. Writing is secondary for a lot of folks right now. You don’t owe it to anyone.

Life certainly is stressful for many reasons. I'm surprised anyone can write happy horse words these days.

Everyone's stressed, and it's okay if you are too.

It's okay if you're not being productive.

It's okay to take time to take care of yourself.

So take care of yourselves.

Stay safe, GMP, and I hope things calm down for all of us soon.

Don't be to hard on yourself. We use your pony words to escape the flarg that is the world's worst situations. In that vein...it's no small leap to understand why you can't write those shiny pony words! Take your time and let the politicians polish the various turds. We will be here waiting for you! Stay well!

Take care of yourself however you need to, which can absolutely include doing nothing productive whatsoever :heart:

I haven't been able to do anything coherently creative for months thanks to job stress; and the current world situation has made it exponentially worse. I desperately want to write and make music, but I just do not have the energy or focus for it right now. Lots of people are in the same position. Stress and depression kill creativity; and the world right now is very stressful and depressing.

You aren't letting anyone else down.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time of things.

It can be hard to get back into the swing of writing and getting things done. (Says the guy who hasn't published anything in years)

Be well, and stay safe.

*hugs the thread* Many thanks to all of you for the encouraging word. I really needed that today!

You could only let us down if you owed us something, but you don't.

Everyone is stressed, everything is on fire. Don't be upset that you can't write new stories right now. Just be proud of the ones you've already written that are undoubtedly helping some of the people out there cope.

The world is a chaotic, messy place right now dude, so don't fret if writing is difficult now. I'm sure many are in the same boat, it's hard to enjoy things sometimes when so much seems to be going wrong in this day and age, I'm having that problem with some things myself that I usually would enjoy.

It's funny because I had disappeared from here for years, and only posted something after a 5 year break (and I plan on submitting something tonight too). I'm sort of doing the opposite of you in a way and using this site as an escape from the real world in a way.

Stay strong man, we'll all get through this :)
