Interview with Halira · 4:46pm Jun 23rd, 2020

Interview Rp Style
Nailah as Snow Heart and Skyward Sword
Halira as Halira

Snow Heart

“Sky...where are you taking me?” asked Snow Heart, the blue alicorn being dragged by her guard out of her castle, and to who knows where.

“I’m sick and tired of you pouting and fussing you have no friends other than me. I’m taking you to a camp that’s all about making friends.”

“But...there might be bugs.” she whimpered.

“Ah come on. You are a Princess. Not to mention a bat. You shouldn’t be scared of a few creepy crawlers.” scowled Skyward sword. This was for her own good.

“Now go on, and introduce yourself. Stop making people come to you. Make the first move.”

Snow HeSnow Hearart approached the pony.

“Um...hello there I’m Snow Heart who might you be?”

Halira

The very white, and not-an-alicorn, bat pony looked up from the flowers she had been watering. "I'm Halira, or some ponies call me Pearlwort, after my flowers." She brushed aside some of her pink mane and gazed at the top of Snow Heart's head. "You look a little… out of place. Is that horn real, or a costume? And is that pony hurting you? Do you need help?"

Snow Heart

“What do you mean is my horn real? I was born a unicorn thank you very much!” Snow Heart pouted in protest, crossing her forelegs across her chest floof, blushing a bit, huffing. “I never asked to be a bat pony, or an alicorn. I just wanted to make friends. How did all this happen to me? Oh...sorry. I’m sure you don’t need to hear all that. Anyways, so you like ponies huh? Can you tell me why, and how you got here to this crazy camp?”

Halira

Halira set her watering can down and rubbed the back of her head with a wing. "Uh, just been here forever, from.way back when there was this girl named Megan, and these witches, and all the foals looked like little clones of their big sisters- they even had the same names, it was weird. I'm a sucker for foalhood nostalgia."

Snow Heart

Hmm...I see. I guess that’s an interesting way to end up at a camp. My guard and brother brought me here, says I need to make real friends and not be so cooped up in my castle. Pfft...I love my brother, but sometimes he drives me batty. Okay...that was terrible. So what is it about writing that you enjoy? And what made you join Fimfiction?”

Halira

Halira's ears perk up and her wings relax to her sides. "For me it is kind of my way of sorting out my experiences without talking about them directly. It's kind of therapeutic. Most of the characters I write reflect some aspect of me or someone I have encountered that made an impact on me. It's a fantasy setting, but the issues are ones I'm familiar with… just with magical ponies and catastrophes thrown in the mix."

Snow Heart

Well that’s a good way to handle writing by combining it with something you enjoy. I enjoy writing too, as I’m sure you already knew. I mean you look very familiar. Have we met before?” Snow Heart asked starring at her curiously. Hmmm… “So tell me is there any advice you’d give to a new writer just spreading out their wings?

Halira

"We have met before, although it's been awhile," Halira said with a chuckle. "I remember coming across your stories a long time back. They were good, generally sweet little things. They weren't getting much attention though. I had a small following at the time, and it's still a small following, and I remember telling all my followers to go check this pony writer out for some nice little feel good stories. I guess it helped, because not too long after that you got featured for the first time."

Snow Heart

Awwwh. That’s super sweet of you. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now without my followers' support. I admit I’m not the strongest writer out there, but I put my heart into everything I do. Just grammar is EVIL. Though I feel like I am improving bit by bit. But enough about me, we’re here to talk about you. Time for me to return the favor eh?”

Halira

The snowy white bat nodded. "Grammar is the invention of demons from the pits of hell, that's for sure. As for advice for newer writers starting out; I think you covered the first important piece. Put your heart into it. The next piece of advice is remember that every character you write is supposed to be a person, and ponies have lives beyond the stories. You need to understand those lives when you are writing them, and that gives you a more living character. Don't neglect any character, no matter how minor, in this process. You don't need to tell the audience their backstory, but you need to know it so you know who you're writing. People writing bland, undeveloped characters is one of the biggest mistakes I see a new author make. The characters make the story and should be the focus."

Snow Heart

“I can agree with that. Often that is why writers starting out use canons but even then you must be careful with how you portray them. I know for a fact my first story SUCKS. I keep it up to remind me what not to do with future stories. So fellow bat pony, is there anything you’d like to say about the writer whom brings you here?”

Halira

Halira stiffens, then looks back towards her mark, before pointing a hoof at it. "You see this mark? It is antarctic pearlwort. Do you know what's special about antarctic pearlwort? It's one of two flowers, that against all odds, somehow manages to bloom in Antarctica, at least in one small area. My writer's life has never been easy, and often just seems like a long string of losses, but despite all that she is still there, still managing to survive and thrive in her own little space. That's why I have these flowers for a cutie mark, and so many of my stories involve so much hardship. It's a reminder that no matter how bad things get, life still carries on, and there's still little moments of joy and hope that we can find, even in the darkest circumstances."

Snow Heart

Snow Heart went over and snuggled the fellow bat pony. “Often the ones whom go through the most hardships are the best kinds of ponies. I can say from experience that life hasn’t been all sunshine, and rainbows for me either, but ponies give me hope, and a reason to believe that even I can find happiness. Which, spoiler I am very happy now and things are finally starting to look up for me And I hope the same goes for you too my friend.” Snow Heart smiled, nuzzling her, and petting her head.

*pat pat*

“So tell me Halira what do you do for fun besides writing?”

Halira

The bat pony smiles in response to the show of affection. "Not a lot. I'll get lost in a game of Civilization for a while, do some reading, read over some of my friends' writing to give suggestions, and things like that. I listen to music, and find it helps me envision characters better. I'm also an avid collector of things from the 1980s that I grew up with; toys, video games, that kind of thing. I also do some reading on ancient civilizations and watch videos on them. I am a nostalgia nerd, as I said; which is part of what brought me to ponies- in addition to the community. I mostly keep to myself though."

Snow Heart

“There’s nothing wrong with that, but it can be fun to branch out and make more friends. I know you’ve made many friends here on Fimfiction, myself included. Though I do hope there will be more than just us at this camp thing” smiled Snow Heart as she swore this camp would be starting soon. Ponies, smores, and good times.
"Is there anything else you'd like to say?"

Halira

"No matter how discouraging life gets sometimes, just remember you're still able to move on to the next chapter. You never know what plot twists are coming, and there's always room for a happy ending when it's all said and done."

Snow Heart.

“Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of chatting with you, and look I think the other campers are here. Shall we?” asked Snow Heart extending a hoof in friendship towards her fellow bat pony.
