    Good news and bad news

First, the good news: my progress with Twisted Metal: Black.

I’ve unlocked all 15 vehicles, obtained all but 2 trophies and unlocked all but 1 level. I have more things to say about the game as a whole.

I saw Fast X two days ago

IMO, the villain is the most interesting one yet.

    Why?

The trailers don’t really show it, but he’s pretty much Fast and Furious’ version of The Joker (though unlike Joker, he has a clearly defined backstory and motive for targeting the hero): funny and frightening, able to switch between them in the blink of an eye when he’s not being both at the same time.

I’ve turned 25 years old today

And because I can’t resist saying it:

”I’ve got something funnier than 24.”

    “What?”

    “25.”

    Enjoy the Silence

I first heard this song in an episode of Top Gear, but never knew the name of it until earlier this year.

0:42-0:59 - watching Clarkson blast around the track, in the rain, at the wheel of a bright red Volkswagen Golf.

    Enjoy the silence…

Facts about me · 12:01am Jun 23rd, 2020

- I’ve been a car person (read: enthusiast) since I was 4 or 5 years old, even though nobody in my immediate family is. I also have next to no knowledge that applies exclusively to motorcycles and ATVs. At the same time, I read about both out of curiosity, even though I’m very much not what can be called a motorcycle enthusiast.

- I’m actually too hesitant and easily-affected by stress to have a job working on cars. Such a discovery shot my self-confidence to Hell and back, but I’ve recently started to recover.

- When I was a kid, my favorite Robot Wars robot was Stinger.

- I’ve played a total of eleven Need for Speed games: High Stakes, Underground 2, Most Wanted (2005), Carbon, ProStreet, Undercover, The Run (albeit just a short demo), Shift, Hot Pursuit (2010), Most Wanted (2012), and 2015. I have played the last three the least (because I can’t adapt to their handling physics), and have beaten the Career Modes of Underground 2, Carbon, ProStreet, and Undercover (multiple times in Carbon’s case).

- My immediate mood is easily affected by whatever I’m reading, watching, or listening to. As such, even though I am interested in dark stories/storylines, I have to pace myself because they can be emotionally draining for me in long stretches. But I can also calm or relax myself by listening to the right music.

- I have a low tolerance for hot temperatures. Any temperature much higher than 70° Fahrenheit renders me sweaty, itchy and cranky (this tolerance is lower if it’s also humid). I was born in Sacramento, California and lived there for about 10 years, but never got used to the heat. Neither did my parents (who lived there much longer), which is why we currently live in Washington State.

- I hate being startled. That’s why I don’t watch horror movies or play horror games.

- My OC Night Rider (who, as of this post, isn’t in any of my published stories) is heavily based on me. In real life, I’m a tall wallflower whose skill level at certain things probably isn’t something you’d deduce from talking with me. The biggest difference between us, personality-wise, is that Night Rider is less of a wallflower than I am, or at the very least, doesn’t get as much of an anxious feeling when interacting with others (besides family members) face-to-face.

- IRL, I’m not a particularly emotionally expressive person.

- I also interpret five of my OCs (none of whom have appeared in any of my stories yet) as five different parts of myself. Zoey is staying level-headed amid chaos, Night Rider is introversion, Marco is desire to learn and apply what’s learned, Sierra is enjoyment of destruction, and Plasma Spark is love of music.

- I’m reluctant to listen to music included in stories on this site because music (among other things), regardless of whether or not it “clicks” with me, has a tendency to get stuck in a loop at the front of my thoughts and at a high enough volume to make it extremely hard for me to concentrate.

- I’m monolingual. My fluency in non-English languages is limited to a few words in a few other languages.

- I’m an animal lover, especially when it comes to domestic cats.

- Although I love the vehicular combat genre, I’ve played very little games of the type that involve weapons. I’ve primarily played Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, and the “shooting” ones that I’ve played are 2D (specifically the Dead Paradise Adobe Flash games, and more recently, the mobile versions of the Car Eats Car Adobe Flash games). I got the eighth Twisted Metal game (commonly referred to by players with “2012” or “PS3” added on the end) a few years ago, and let’s just say I’m glad it includes a Live Training mode.

- The video games I play are almost exclusively driving/racing games. There are exceptions, including but not limited to: Clash of Clans, Psychonauts, and Pokémon Diamond.

- I had a dream where I was the character in the avatar of another author on this site (and I won’t try to explain what situation I was in, because it made zero sense). I also had a dream where I met another author on this site in real life; we hit it off well.

- I’m a sucker for fluff stories.

I should add to the list that I can’t drive stick shift in real life, and in video games, I only use manual when there’s no automatic option available (so pretty much only in Need for Speed drag races).
