Yes, Really. · 6:42pm Jun 21st, 2020
One of those vague undercurrents just got a lot less vague. And there's more coming. I just have to move the text over with all the formatting, and the next chapter of The Crown of Night will at last be published for everyone to see.
To those of you still around: Thanks for sticking with me.
...And the new chapter is up.
There is altogether too much to say about it, and has been for too long and I've gone and forgotten it all.
I wrote a recap, because I suspect after all this time many have forgotten and will want to refresh their memories, and I wanted to make it easy for them. It's also a little character piece in its own right, and a bit of thinking about what it means to tell stories.
Now, the new chapter was written before it occurred to me to write a recap, and the chapter was written to be understandable even if you don't remember all the supporting characters and past events. It introduces everything you need to know there in the text. So out of an abundance of caution some things are recapped shortly before they are brought up again in the story itself. You will all survive some redundancy, I'm sure.
Happy reading.
ETA: D'oh, I forgot to include the theme song!
And the new chapter is up.
Nearly 5 years between chapters, quite the hiatus. Not that I'll really complain, I didn't know about this one, so it's just more good pony words from you that I get to read now.

And the chapter was lying around partly-finished that entire time. It just. wouldn't. come. together.
But yeah. The Crown of Night, The Education of Clover the Clever, and the in-production The Seven Trials of Clover the Clever (which is currently 8 chapters long, all first drafts but I'm writing the whole thing before I publish it for once) are my grand labor of love here on the site. Stories about wizards and people and trying to figure out what it's all about and how we should deal with it. I hope you check it out and enjoy it.

The Education of Clover the Clever was the first thing from you that I've read and it's among my favorites on the site, and many of your other stories have since joined it. I do tend to wait for a complete story before starting though so it may be a bit before I get to the Crown of Night, but I'm certainly looking forward to it.

I will just have to try to reach the end then
