My Reaction to Pony Life Promos · 3:05pm Jun 20th, 2020
I'm not going to lie, I'm actually getting annoyed with how little promotion Pony Life has been getting. I want to have a stronger idea of what to expect from this show, but the most I got was the ponies teaching Chinese kids how to protect themselves from COVID-19. Now, about a week before the show will supposedly premiere, I finally see some promos, and my reaction is an overwhelming...meh.
Once again, I got so little info on what this show is really going to be like, and what little I got was not promising. The new character designs, while unique and different as well as befitting the new tone of the show, it's also just weird to look at with the character's oversized heads and wide expressions. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but for now, I'm uncertain. I also didn't find the promos funny. The show is supposed to be focused on comedy, but I didn't get a single laugh from those promos. One would think that the advertising would focus on the humor. But the one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was seeing Fluttershy taking a selfie. What the buck? MLP:FiM avoided the use of modern tech so the show would have a timeless feel to it. By integrating cell phones, tablets, computers, and I assume the internet, that opens the door to some really dated humor.
Final verdict: If the promos were trying to make Pony Life look less like Teen Titans Go, they failed.
