As the years go by, I enjoy this day less and less. its not like I can actually do anything special. I normally don't ask for gifts, and turn down offers for gifts until people forget about my birthday until next year. I've had too many times when family's used my birthday to prod me or embarrass me. I don't like being the center of attention, and its not like I can really go do what I really want due to covid. I feel lonely but at the same time there's no one to actually go out and visit with.
edit: my mood was probably sent in a downward spiral due to an old friend's mother dying just a few days ago. Her funeral is just a few days from now. Nice lady, I'll miss her and her death really has colored the past few days for me.

Pretty sure that getting tired of birthdays is just a part of getting older, especially if you've never really put much effort into them.
But happy birthday! I hope you get to do something that makes you feel good, even if it's just sipping [alcoholic beverage of choice] down by the water. It's one of the small benefits of summer birthdays.

The woman smoked like a chimney for at least 40 years, and battled cancer for the last 10. It's not really a shock that she died, but I gotta be there for my old friend. we never speak, but that doesn't matter.
