The Dastardly Duo (also a quick check-in)

Recently, I realized that I needed to get some art for the less noble side of Set Sail. Our main villain has existed for years now as nothing more than words on a page and ideas in my head, but now we've got photographic evidence that he exists!

I made my account here exactly 10 years ago today. A whole decade of occasionally posting words about silly little talking horses and birds. I wish I had something planned but this kinda just snuck up on me. All I have is my thoughts, and I've only got one of those right now.

    I'm getting old.

Hey all, a brief progress check and life update.

I'm currently in the death spiral of a high-level summer math course. Partial Differential Equations. In 4 weeks. Online.

Honestly, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. The professor is solid and understandable, but the material is a bit of a mind-bender. That, of course, has been slowing progress on the writing front.

That said, slowed does not equal stopped. I'm on the verge of completing the rough draft of chapter 9 for Set Sail. Like, danger close, as in I plan to knock it out at some point today. Depending on how swiftly the editing process goes, that could be out in a week or two. It's a chonker, currently clocking over 9000 words and will likely eclipse 10k by the time it's all there.

Outside of that, I've still got plans to continue Learning Curve in the near future. Long neglected, I still need to provide some closure on that tale, though I'm not super jazzed about the quality of the chapters that are there. Not just the fluidity of the prose, but of a lot of the broader decisions I made in telling that story. Honestly, it feels a little boring, like the conflicts in it came out half-baked and not overly engaging. But I digress. Learning Curve update will happen hopefully sometime in July.

I've also got some plans for oneshots that I'd like to do. Might start cooking up a batch of those at some point, we'll see I guess?

Yeah, lots of writing stuff happening! Ok, back to work on math.

I remember having a lot of fun in Partial Differential Equations. Good stuff, but yeah, mind-bending. And 4 weeks sounds kinda crazy.

Partial Differential Equations

I don't even know what that is, other than it's, apparently, some sort of equation. :rainbowlaugh: My brother would probably know, though. He's the math whiz in the family. If I ask him though, he's only going to tease me on the fact that I didn't know, seeing it's no secret I'm definitely not the math whiz of the family. :derpytongue2:
