A Stray Thought... · 1:28am Jun 14th, 2020
So as many of you all know, when I first joined this community, I was mostly in it for the grimdark aspects of the brony fandom, like Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, Little Miss Rarity, Scissor Twilight, etc... This resulted in me writing various stories of a creepy nature.
Of these stories the two most popular are Abandoned by Pinkie (based off of the Abandoned by Disney creepypasta) and the Apple left Behind. This last one was part of a trade for artwork from one of my friends.
Now while I have calmed down a bit and have found myself writing less creepy stories (though I do use a few dark elements here and there) and stories of a lighter nature, I do still see people favoriting these darker stories on them and leaving comments. Now recently I had received a comment on Pt.3 of my series, the Apple left Behind. Warning below there will be spoilers, so... yeah, you've been warned.
At this point she's not even trying to avenge her family, she's just become a straight-up serial killer.
After reading this comment, a few thoughts went through my head and I could see why the commenter came to this conclusion. Originally, this had been the intention, that Applejack after losing her family, gradually lost her sanity and became a serial killer. However, as I thought back to it, there was a part of me that had felt like she had been compelled to do this... but why? Or by who?
Could something dark and eldritch have been responsible for Applejack's madness?
As I considered this a part of my wondering mind wondered, "should I rewrite this series."
Now it should be noted that if I did write this it would be three short stories but would have all the parts rewritten in one story. There would also be an extension on the story bring this series to a close and perhaps another character from one of my other stories could make an appearance.
Perhaps the story could have an asking mechanic kind of like with Ask Roseate Grimsbane where the readers could speak with Applejack, either trying to dissuade her from her actions... or perhaps even encourage these nefarious actions.
After considering this I thought I would ask and see what you all thought. Will I receive a comment, probably not, but you never know. Sometimes you guys talk to me and sometimes you don't. lol.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading this blog.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
Hello there!
This kind of stories are not my cup of tea, really.
I would suggest doing an alternative take. There is a saying that roughly translates to: 'there is nothing worse than re-doing something'. I'd leave the original story as it is and make a new one as a AU sequel/spin-off/different story with similiar base concept.
But really, do whatever you want and consider the best cource of action.
5285741 lol. I guess I might not have explained it very well. But yes, the original would stay up, this would just be an alternate version of the story that hopefully reflects how my skills have grown since then (and perhaps explain elements of the story better).
