The 100 followers special! · 11:48am Jun 9th, 2020
TL;DNR: My pricing is staying the same, reflecting the amount of work I have at the time. I am going to be trying to put out a lot more work, and I wish to thank you all for being here.
I'd like to start off by saying that 100 followers is insane. It really is beyond my wildest dreams, and I'd like to thank everyone that followed me from the start, or has just now joined. 100 followers is a massive, massive milestone that I am so lucky to have reached.
The person who inspired me to start writing has 800 and something followers, but they have been doing it since 2012 (I started in 2018, because it was only then that I was actually old enough to write porn) Most of the big writers have anywhere around 300 followers, but they tend to write lighter stuff then my fare. For a grimdark writer to be where I am now, it's beyond amazing. And moving forward, I hope to keep it improving to even greater heights.
Now, onto some other news. Over the weekend, I did some stupid stuff, I made some big mistakes, and I'd like to come out and address them publicly. This artist was discussing my pricing in the safety of his own private discord, saying how he felt bad that my prices were so low when he and some other people in the community charge way more then I do.
My actions in response to this were unacceptable, I went into his discord because I was annoyed about him talking behind my back, even though he had not said anything mean spirited and was well within his rights to do so. I then berated them for doing so, creating a scene. This was not acceptable of me, and even though I later solved the issue and said that I was sorry, I thought it best to leave because even though this artist seems like a nice person, it's clear we don't see eye to eye.
Now, I am bringing this to the attention of everyone because while I was talking to this person, we got onto discussing pricing, and how some writers in the community can charge $30 per 1,000 words! I found this mind numbing to think about, and the artist claimed that I might be hurting other artists by having my prices sit where they are. He also indicated that the reason my prices were so low is that I lack customers.
Now, I don't want people getting worried and thinking I am going to be putting my prices up. There are some artists in the community that charge large amounts of money for their work, and they are well within their rights to do so, but I am not comfortable doing that. This community is actually the reason I got into writing, without it I would still likely be unable to write, because I struggled a lot with doing so in school.
It was this fandom that made me see how enjoyable writing is, how there's all these fantastic people producing fantastic work for others to enjoy without even being paid to do so. The truth is, if nobody paid me, I would still be sat here, putting out crazy stories and writing for others to enjoy. I only charge for my writing because I need help paying my bills to be able to do this. My price moves between $7 and $10 depending on how much I need the money, and how large my to-do list gets. My prices will always be as low as possible, and if they ever did hit $30 it would be because my to-do list was impossibly large.
I want to make my services as open to as many people as possible. This is why I take payment after I finish the work, but before it is delivered to my customers, I feel this is a fair middle ground where you only pay for things after I have done them, but I don't have to worry about not being paid.
But, I have been lazy, I have been slow, and I need to step up the pace if I am to keep my prices where they are. I have a lot of passion for this community, and despite my obviously melodramatic profile set-up, I really do love all sides of this fandom. I wouldn't trade my job for anything, and I am not going to let some other artist looking down upon me dictate my pricing.
So, moving forward, it's time to show the larger artists just what it is that I can do, and the passion that I hold for this community and the things it has done to me.
Here's to 100 followers, and many more to come. Thank you all so much.
Congrats! I know I've lost followers every time I write something edgy, but if I held back I wouldn't be true to myself, so keep at it!
