Kindness and Shadow series timeline

Kindness and the Heart of Shadow along with its current sequel Kindness and the Seed of Shadow are labeled as "Alternate Universe", but because that universe bears some similarity to the canon universe at the end of the show, I just wanted to make a note of timeline clarification.

I first conceived of KatHoS shortly after the premiere of MLP season 9, and that premiere episode is the point of departure for my AU. Everything that took place into the show up to the beginning of season 9 is true for my AU. Nothing that took place in the rest of the show is necessarily true in the KatHoS universe, but as I was writing while the rest of the season was still airing, some of the canon events may have had a little influence on my story.

With all that said, here's what's different from the show. Grogar is a real villain, and Discord never impersonated him. King Sombra was resurrected again and continues to live in the KatHoS universe. Twilight succeeds Celestia and Luna as ruler of Equestria, but her friends also ascend to a sort of co-ruler status; all six have some direct duties to the throne (I haven't determined just what those duties are because the particulars of Equestrian politics aren't necessarily important to the story). Twilight lives in Canterlot castle, Fluttershy lives with animal friends in a cottage in the castle gardens, and Rarity lives somewhere fashionable in the heart of Canterlot. Rainbow Dash lives in her cloud home and continues to be a Wonderbolt, dividing her off time between Cloudsdale, Ponyville, and Canterlot. Pinkie Pie and Applejack have both moved back to Ponyville after living a few months in Canterlot, but Pinkie still visits the city frequently.
