    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

Getting to know my reader's minds... · 9:44pm Jun 2nd, 2020

So it's almost Sunset's Isekai's 1 year anniversary! And I have something planned to celebrate that in a cool way.

It's amazing to think that it's been a year since I started it, and that—for the most part—the once-a-week format was followed without much problem! As I've said before, I intend to keep this one going for a long, long time... and I hope to be able to explore with you guys a lot of amazing things!

*Art by JodTheCod

So Sunset's Isekai has been all over the place with unique visitors from the multiverse. I know you guys have been fantastic all this time at commenting in the story as it progresses, so now I'm curious to hear which chapter so far has been your favorite and very importantly, why! This is not to stroke my ego Besides stroking my ego, I really want to hear your thoughts... why that chapter worked for you, what you thought of the characterization, etc.

This one will go on for a while, so I'll try to keep tabs on it through you guys as well! Your feedback really matters!

Now, share! :raritystarry:

Please. :twilightsheepish:

I am really enjoying zootopia, it really steps off of the beaten path of a normal story and makes it work so good.

i am thinking teen titans would be kind of fun.

or Firefly

Firefly, Futurama, and Farscape. The holy scifi trinity.

EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER! EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER! EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION!

I seriously want to write a chapter of Isekai, but I've only seen snippets that aren't a cohesive storyline, so several of the peeps I can see visited, got wasted and helped/got helped by Isekai.

O yes the trifecta

Wow. I have multiple questions about those particular pictures and posters on the wall...

As for my favorite chapter, I have an obvious bias towards Heir A-pear-ent, but I have to credit the Harry Is A Dragon chapter for both being a great read and pointing me to a great story I'd have missed otherwise, and the Owl House chapter for really showcasing the impact Sunset's having on the multiverse at large. I do love the idea of her legend expanding to all corners of existence (with a little unasked-for help from Rarity, of course.)

That said, I think my favorite chapter thus far has to be the Rock the Carousel one. For one, I really appreciate the degree of integration between the two stories. Furthermore, not only did the trip to the bar have a tangible impact on that Twilight, she also connected with Sunset on a level we don't get to see. Sure, she acts as a makeshift therapist fairly often in this story, but rarely does she talk shop with a fellow musician.

How do I choose between our babies?? They're both so precious to me 😭

I think I'd have to go with The Time We Have Left's chapter. Not only did it cover some really difficult topics in what I felt was an effective way, it also tossed out the standard Isekai "formula" by having things get out of hand quickly, with distressing flashbacks and altercations and aaaaaaangst. Not only does Isekai!Sunset walk away from the chapter with her own trauma to process, she also has to admit to herself that there are some problems, some people, that she just can't fix no matter how hard she tries.

Taking a step back from my ego, my favorite chapter that I wasn't involved with was probably Iroh's. I'm a sucker for ATLA, although that being said I'm realizing that mid-season 4 Korra would make for an incredibly emotional chapter.

Personal favorite? Not sure. Many are about worlds I know nothing about but still enjoyed. Some introduced me to other fics that I ended up loving. I really like the ones that Sunset steps outside the Isekai. All I know is each one seems better than the last and I love the slowly building lore.

I loved all the Lena bits :yay:

(hahaa, Sadie and the Suspects poster!)

I think it's probably your Nier: Automata chapter that rings truest for me. 2B's personality might not be the most complex to mimic, but I feel like you did well. We get a good feel of the conflict 2B is facing, and what I feel is a believable reaction to her meeting a Human for the first time. Knowing what I do of that game and its story, it felt like it was the real 2B talking. On that note, one thing I heard once that has stuck with me till now: If you can read a character speaking, and you can "Hear" their voice in their dialogue, that means whoever write it got the characterisation right. And I heard 2B's voice when I read that chapter.

I really enjoyed the B5 chapters but I may be biased since it's my favorite show and G'Kar's journey is one of my favorite since it's such a dramatic but justified change in attitude. You absoutely nailed the character's voice in all his incarnations. It's easy to forget just how awful G'Kar was in season 1.

The Zootopia storyline has been fun as well, also with good characters and some interesting twists. I'm curious to see the outcome.

Firefly could be fun. Honestly, Science universes interacting with magic can be quite amusing. TNG could be entertaining as well, especially with regards to the captains table thing you teased in one chapters. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing more crossovers with some other fanfics from both the ponyverse and EQG universe. I've enjoyed many of them and found a few fics I'd never haved noticed otherwise.

I've enjoyed Sunset's interactions with Dani and Lena the most.

I love all of it. And that picture! For a moment, I entertained the fantasy that it was one of those 360 degree pictures, which would show the whole bar.

Korra wheeling herself into the bar while on the ship bound for the Northern Water Tribe, right after her fight with Zaheer... Yeah. She would definitely be someone in need of a friendly ear to confide in. It would be interesting if the bar showed up several times over the next couple of years, culminating in a post-recovery encounter, showing Korra after she finally put the pieces back together.

B5 and Nier: Automata are my favorite. B5 is a great example of how the story thrives on it's lore and growing cast of character. Nier: Automata chapter is great self-contained story with great interaction that challenge Sunset's world view and her client.
And I can't pick one of "funny" chapters. They all great.

I really dont have a favorite chapter, their all good. Theres several I'd love to see sunset go back too but theres do much I'd like her to go to. Maybe a crossover with one of your other sunset stories would be cool

Hard to choose. I love the chapters with G'Kar. Babylon five for the win. You really captured his voice. I like the stuff with Lena, too. I've never seen the new Ducktales, but I could tell what's going on with no problem.

I also adored that snippet with Boromir, short as it was. Just... damn!

So, yeah.Hard to choose at best.

I liked too many parts to pick just one favorite moment! In my head though I could see a chapter where MANY of her old visitors showed up at the same time for drinks. And then the Celestia and Luna from Sunsets world also showed up.

I haven't bothered reading this story actually, since I already have a huge read-later list, and this one feels like I need to have read a ton of other stories to appreciate each chapter.

Well your work so far in Zootopia so far has been particularly excellent.

Other than that, the one with Harry I'd say. They played off each other in an interesting way, Sunset encountering something truly different in the draconic Harry, and Harry proceeding with his usual bemused elan. The drama and emotional turmoil in other chapters is all up to your excellent standards, but the little stories like this exemplify how very odd Sunset's chosen profession can be.

As somebody who's read maybe 2% of the stories involved... You don't need to worry about that, it's a great read either way!!

Wow hard to choose a favorite. As others have said I loved the B5 chapters, and I think you nailed J’kar perfectly (could of sworn the late Andre was reading all of J’kar’s lines in my head).

I’ve also been really enjoying the zootopia chapters and whenever we get a glimpse at the wider things going on around the bar.

Ah, happy near-anniversary! :)

As for my favorite chapter, well, that's often a hard sort of question for me, but in this case, while there are many I enjoyed... probably the Freya Crescent one, for reasons I think I recall already touching on in my comment on it. :D
(And of course, she's in the picture on this blog post, even. :D)

(As an aside, afraid I'm not sure when I'll get to the new chapter; I'm pretty busy at the moment, and a number of stories are getting put in a backlog as I try to keep up with the new stuff I have to do coming in.
Looking forward to getting to it, though; I've been enjoying this arc. :))

Hmm, bit bandwagony though it may be, but the Babylon 5 trilogy remains a favourite. I've never really watched the show outside of a few clips on youtube, but your telling has made me eager to try it when time permits. I loved G'kar and how the story was told from his perspective.

Tales of Isekai is also one I go back to every now and then. Iroh is an endless barrel of hard earned wisdom, and it was a nice change of pace seeing Sunset receiving wisdom and comfort during a bar visit.

And finally, I'm really enjoying this current Zootopia buddy-cop story. It's been a good detective story so far, and fun to have a little adventure with a bit more meat on the bone.

Sorry D , have not read that story :fluttershyouch:

I think my favourite chapter was the one where Sunset spoke to Celestia. I've always liked any Celestia/Sunset Mother/Daughter interactions.
