    Soon

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

I intended to have this story out today, so much so to the point of me commissioning this art from Riouku, but a surprise family visit and obligations have gotten the way. I intend for the story to be finished asap, no longer than the end of the year.

At the very least, enjoy this art from Riouku. I'll be back soon.

    Happy Valentine's Day

Yes, I know I've been gone for a while. There's a lot, and I mean a lot reasons for that, but I've never left this place. Maybe I'll go into more details in the future.

I've Finally Watched Breaking Bad... Really lives up to Hype!

For years, I have had some friends who have gone on and on about a show called "Breaking Bad", with many naming it the greatest show they've ever seen. Despite having access to it, I never got around to actually watching it for a few reasons, with the big ones being time and the fear of the overhype.

I will Re-Watch and Review Avatar: the Last Airbender · 11:28pm May 23rd, 2020

I should probably say this right away as to not give any false impressions: I'm not doing it out of great love for the series.

Years ago on Nickelodeon, Avatar: the Last Airbender premiered on network television for all of the world to see. It received critical acclaim and is often held as one of the greatest cartoons of all time, sometimes even the greatest. It has been lauded for the visuals, action, and character development and is held in very high regard to this day.

And I... never got it.

Don't get me wrong; by no means do I think it's a bad series, and I remember liking it just fine, but I never thought it was all that great. I remember having more problems with the series than others: I thought there were some logic errors both minor and major, I remember not being invested in ANY of the romance (save Sokka and Suki), and I, quite frankly, just straight up hated Katara. Yeah, I had problems with Avatar before Korra (the Korra re-watch will be another day).

Now, there were some things I did legitimately find amazing, namely Zuko and Iroh (next to no complaints on them) and a few episodes, but I remember there being a lot of things holding me back from really loving the show.

I've always been an anxious over-thinker (it's been a blessing and a curse), and my interests were a little different back then, so that might have something to do with how I viewed the series back in the day, and, now, during these mundane times, I think it's time I finally revisit series and see if my views have changed. With it being just released on Netflix, I don't think there's a better time.

Over the next few weeks whenever I find the time (there is no set schedule), I will watch however many episodes a day and blog about my thoughts for each one.

There's really only one rule: no supplementary material. I will not read the wiki, comics, or anything else to better understand plot points in the series. The series has to explain itself.

So, what do you think? Will my views on the series change? Will I end up liking it more, less, or the same? Are there any specific. moments you're looking forward to me reacting to?

Please, let me know.

Honestly? I never got into Avatar... and I have no idea why. Like, I watched the first three or so episodes, and I remember thinking it was okay. And then by the next day, I just... felt no desire to keep going.

I kept watching for one reason or another. I ended up liking it but definitely didn't love it like some of my friends did.

Honestly, part of me wishes I had just quit like you did.

Completely loved it but then I’ve always been a martial arts fan. Each bending has a faithful martial arts style to it that kept me engaged.

I also loved that the characters learned, grew, failed and fell sometimes, but overall became better people.

I'm fond of martial arts, too, but not to a great extent.

Well, I'll find out how I feel about the characters after a second go.

Zuko's got the most interesting character arc, and it comes full circle by the end of the series. Aang's arc is nice because it's about him owning up to his responsibility, and nerving himself to face the Firelord. He also makes several very important decisions during his adventures, including the fight with the Firelord, which show his commitment to his ideals, and that they're more than just skin-deep, or abandoned when inconvenient.

Katara starts off pretty shallow, but she develops more in later seasons as she starts to realize how she feels about Aang as a boy she's clearly attracted to. Aang is at least partially aware of this as well.

Sokka has a great development arc, even if it comes later in the series. As the team's resident "normal guy," he finally gets a chance to set himself apart from the others. I also like that he's willing to try anything, and is entirely willing to embarrass himself publicly to impress a girl he really likes.

Legend of Korra for me is even better than the first one. It's disappointing that there's so few episodes, but they pack a lot more important content into each episode, so it's not like they're wasting the minutes. Each season covers important material, and develops the character significantly. And while they could only get away with a veiled Korrasami reference near the end, you can see hints of it for the last two seasons if you're paying attention.

I'm looking forward to see how I view Last Airbender after another viewing.

Avatar the Last Airbender was a great show in my opinion. One of my top favorite animated series as a matter of fact. :pinkiehappy:

It starts up decent, but after "The Storm", that's when things picked up. It gets even better in season 2. And season 3 was fantastic! I like the art style, the music and character development (especially with Zuko). The only thing I dislike about the series was the "Great Divine" episode. :applejackunsure:

Anyway, even if you don't end up liking it, I recommend giving this show a chance.

I'll give it a second chance. I want to see if I missed something. Who knows how I'll feel?

Avatar is probably one of my favorite series' of all time. Zuko's character arc was the best, in my opinion.

Zuko was definitely my favorite part of AVatar back when I first saw the series. We'll see if that is still the case after I rewatch.
