    Xlibris

Hey, you guys ever hear of Xlibris? I've got an offer from them to publish my book, but I'm getting some shady vibes from some of the reviews I've read about them. Any thoughts?

    Amazon's changing it's print costs.

So, as of June 20th, Amazon will be changing its print costs. Specifically, everything is going to be a bit more expensive. If you were on the fence for buying a physical copy of my books, now's the time to change your mind, seeing as how the price is going to increase in a couple of months. Thought I'd give you all the heads up.

    What I Am: Aftermath chapter.

Hey, guys, I'm writing a conclusion chapter for What I Am. Nothing too substantial, given that a sequel and spin off already exist, but I thought I'd put it down as both a way to let those that don't exactly follow me (or, at the very least, don't follow my blog) know that the second book is out, and also know that A Darkened Sky is about to get a whole lot of chapters.

    Fool's Gambit.

Man, did you ever go back and just... cringe at what you did before? That happened to me with Fool's Gambit. The story has plenty of potential, that's not the problem. My problem is with how it's written. The prose is off, there are numerous errors, and I feel like the whole thing is rushed. Like, that first part could have easily been 4-5 chapters longer, and it would have been better for

Working on my story... · 2:03am May 22nd, 2020

So, I've been working on the MLP-free version of my story, and I've reached the point where Alex is introduced to King Tor, the King of the Morning. The relevant backstory for his name was that I decided that he was born a bastard of the previous king and a slave, and that he was named to reflect that. I thought you guys might get a kick out of it having a tiny sneak peak at what his name translates into in English using magic.

At the same time, I wanted to get this right, so I have a couple of different options. Here they are:

Unwanted-God-Child.
Unloved-God.
Survivor-God.
Castaway-God.

The 'god' of is of course a mistranslation of the word 'king,' and will eventually be corrected as Alex learns more of their language. Also, I'm open to suggestions, but I think I'll go with Survivor-God for now.

That depends on whether Tor's survival or his heritage are most important to the story. I'd advise keeping it open until it develops further.

Castaway-God in my perspective have nice ring to it.

Father's betrayal god child.
It more directly references being a bastard without directly saying it.

I'm leaning towards Unwanted-God-Child.

King Tor

he was born a bastard of the previous king and a slave, and that he was named to reflect that.

I... don't even remotely follow.

5267150 What do you not understand? The bird-alien was a bastard of a king and a slave, and was named in the tongue of his people to reflect this. 'Tor' has special meaning relating to their parentage in Daylander, and is more akin to a slur then an actual name in that tongue. It's hardly a new phenomena, as there are numerous cases on earth of people given special names relating to the circumstances of their birth, or in some cases, derogatory names relating to the circumstances of their birth, or how they looked when they came out. Need I remind you that the Hunchback of Notre Dame exists, and the main character was named Quasimodo by the antagonist.

In the name of conciseness and greater confusion, I propose "God of [Father's] Betrayal"

Look up "Fitzroy" some time, if you still don't get it.

I was misunderstanding it as being already translated.

5267484 Ah. Tor is the actual word in the bird tongue, and his rank would translate into King if done properly. This is not done properly, and instead is fed through magic, which doesn't distinguish between names (which shouldn't be translated) and other parts of speech (which should be translated). So, when listening through the spell, it still translates the name, despite the fact that it really shouldn't, so Alex hears it as Unwanted-God-Child, or whatever I eventually decide to settle on.

I'm so late to this

False-successor-divine
Son of Zeus
Fitz-Kami.
John Bull
Sire-less shall not become God

(When you take into account that English is less a language than a pillaged hodgepodge of dozens of other languages, there are So Many options.)

Edit:
God of Adultery
False heir Bred to bondage accended

I would posit instead, "Lost God," eventually becoming, "Lost King." It is both fitting to the character and succinct enough that it won't clog up the dialog. Other ideas that could work but I like less than that (Assuming God always retranslates to King) include:

Forgotten God
Perverted God, (Perverted eventually also being retranslated to, "Changed," allowing for some comedic relief regarding the name and some interesting debate between characters over what type of perversion his name represents. )
Stolen God
Forgotten God
Maimed God
Torn God

That being said... When can we start seeing a continuation? Because hot dang man, this story was and has been one of my weekly highlights for ages and I would be very, VERY sad to not see it continue/finish. Lol

5329790 All I can say is 'Soon.' I'm working on it, though, I haven't given up on it, it's just that I've had other projects that have needed my attention. It's coming down the pipeline, though, that's for sure.
