The cover art for Empathy for the Devil is here in all its rebellious glory! Nothing screams Sunset Shimmer quite like flipping off authority figures and embracing inner darkness—doing it in one go just saves time.
For real, though, I can't tell you how much I love this art and how excited I am that we're just two weeks away from the first release date! But I can try...
Writing Update: 100,000 Words and Counting! (+Personal Update)
Current Total Word Count: 101,041
Estimated Final Word Count: 110,000 – 115,000
Chapters Completed: 13
Total # of Chapters: 15
So earlier this week I surpassed 100,000 words on a single story for the first time in my life. Really, all I have to say is: AHHHHHH!!!!! I've never done that before! Holy shit! I'm so happy!
... But, uh, screaming aside, that's an accomplishment for me, even if it might not be for other writers, but I'm not about to rest on my laurels. I'm taking my time on the final two chapters of this story so that I can give them all the TLC they deserve. Also loving every minute of it.
On the personal side of things: I've started my final semester of my undergrad, a psychology and business degree (all classes online, of course). I've gotta to make sure I give that my time and energy as well so that I can graduate with a decent GPA if I want to do a Master's later on, you know? Bevin's also gotten exciting opportunities, too (although top secret for now, shh)! And on top of that, our editor Space Jazz is graduating university!!! We're so proud of him!!! And the (for now) secret member of Team Empathy is also working so hard (on top of being an absolute sweetheart).
So, yeah, the Team is kicking as much butt as we can. All the while, we're super excited to see what you think of this story! In fact...

And with that, the stage is set: In two weeks from now, the first seven chapters will be released every other day. We're going to leave you on an intentional cliffhanger for a bit (a storytelling decision we may have cackled maniacally about), and then we'll be back with the final half of the story with chapters 8 - 15. I'm so proud, nervous, and excited, but above all? I can't wait to hear what you think.

Also like the schedule set in stone for it; first half to set the tone into the summer months and then after a pause ramp up the heat with the second half, kinda like a tv series run~

You and me both. I swear, the majority of this story was written while hopped up on caffeine (cocoa cola, because my sweet tooth will be the death of me). So that means it's the ideal reading experience or something. Author approved ☕

Good ol' TV schedules, can't beat 'em for building that excitement! You'll get about 40,000 words and at least 17 pieces of art not including the front cover in the first half of the story, so it should be a good amount of content before the cliffhanger, which I wanted to make sure. The second half is bigger, some cool surprises that I haven't talked about anywhere, but had to make sure the first half was a fun time, too.
Plus, when we come back, the second half will have the same release schedule that the first half did, nice and consistent. I'll keep you all informed on when that starts up again!
