How to write a more sympathetic and relatable antagonist? · 12:37am May 18th, 2020
I think I'm losing my touch on how to write a well-developed and complex antagonist, or character in general. Can someone help me get my groove back when it comes to creating new and good characters from scratch? I promise I won't bother anybody about this anymore if you help me. Sorry if I still am.
How exactly would you want help?

I want my character, Odium to have a good tragic backstory and a fleshed-out and complex personality without it being too cliché and melodramatic or making him too perfect or unlikable. Sorry if I'm being too vague.

I'll try and see if I can come up with something
Be a villain or imagine being one.
Try to step inside the shoes of your villains.
Actually, you should be inside all of your chars.
Apologies, If I've told you this before.
If you want an example let me know, I've been doing this technique for a while.
I have posted one example here.

Thanks. Do you wanna see Odium's personality?

What do you think of Odium's new personality?

Can you get inside Odium's head?
Could you write him from a first person view?
The story doesn't need to be, but you need to feel what he feels and thinks.
