    Rising Flames Progress Update

Just letting everybody know, it's going to be a bit longer before Chapter Three drops. In addition to refining our editing process to be more collaborative (I was letting my mindset from my game development work bleed into here, when my priorities with Rising Flames are very different), Spell Check and applezombi pointed out a bunch of issues with my outline that I've been diligently

    Rising Flames Progress Update

I'm too tired to write good fiction or solve complex puzzles right now (Void Stranger is an amazing game btw, highly recommended for anyone who likes mindbenders), so I figured I'd give everybody an update on how the story was coming along. I'm almost halfway done with drafts for all the chapters. Chapter Four would have turned our very

Dumb Tidbits from Pony Life (and FiM) Character Bios · 2:45am May 15th, 2020

You can find them here, but I picked out the notable bits:

  • Apparently, there exists a potion of INFINITE KNOWLEDGE. This has many, many implications.
  • Angel and Gummy are getting last names, being Bounce and Snap respectively.
  • Rarity takes her cupcakes with a side of caviar, for some reason. Who does that?
  • Fluttershy’s brother is notably not mentioned as a relative, nor are her parents. Hmm…
  • Applejack wants to be a mom, which is both expected and sweet. Maybe she and Dash adopt?

Discuss.

It's not a proper cupcake without some caviar, darling.

...

What this really tell us is that Rarity is every bit as loaded as she seems to be. A shame this isn't an EqG tidbit, because I was always annoyed at how EqG regularly implies Rarity isn't at least running her own boutique or something. I get it, she's a high school girl, but the first few movies left me with the impression that she owned that place where she and the rest of the girls were getting dolled up.

Then she apparently has to get a summer job that isn't advancing her own line of clothes.

Then she implies she and Applejack pay taxes, notably omitting the rest of her friends, suggesting she's doing a lot more than a summer job.

Then she's renting a limo on demand like it's nothing for Sunset to ostensibly learn how to drive.

Then we see her working a different summer job that's also not advancing her own creations?

Then she's having her room remodeled. Even with AJ's help, that couldn't have come cheap.

Come on, show. You're sending us mixed signals, here!

Apparently, there exists a potion of INFINITE KNOWLEDGE

A potion. Singular. And it's already been imbibed by somecreature who ain't sharing how to make another. Possibly because their brain instantly turned into a black hole. That's how physics works when you get too much of something in one place, right? At least in dumb cartoons for dumb toddlers, anyway.

Adopt in the land of sunshine, rainbows and overpowered alicorn princesses that take the laws of nature and morality as suggestions at best and stubborn challenges at worse? I'd put my bits on unholy hellspawn from the mixing of their blood or magical bullshitery allowing for one to impregnate the other. 50/50.

The abomination would be the saner and more polite child, obviously.

Apparently, there exists a potion of INFINITE KNOWLEDGE. This has many, many implications.

I'm going to call that a potion of fox's cunning with very good in-universe marketing. That or the connection to the Akashic Records only lasts for a few moments, giving you infinite knowledge but not infinite time to use it, infinite memory to store it, nor infinite understanding to most effectively exploit it.

Angel and Gummy are getting last names, being Bounce and Snap respectively.

See also Diamond Dazzle Tiara, Snailsquirm, etc. It's hard to trademark common words and phrases, and if the pets are getting more focus, that'll be a concern.
Of course, that explanation doesn't work well with Opal...

Rarity takes her cupcakes with a side of caviar, for some reason. Who does that?

Note that these are double diamond chip cupcakes, which gives the Grandpa Merc hypothesis a lot more traction in this timeline.

Fluttershy’s brother is notably not mentioned as a relative, nor are her parents. Hmm…

Pinkie's the only one whose bio even obliquely mentions her parents. As for Zephyr, are you really surprised Fluttershy would prefer her animal friends?

Applejack wants to be a mom, which is both expected and sweet. Maybe she and Dash adopt?

As 5262825 noted, with Twilight and Starlight in their social circle, magical lesbian spawn are absolutely on the table.

I viewed the summer jobs as Rarity selling her startup to Prim Hemline to advance her career (and Prim having a curious way of testing up and coming designers) and shamelessly trying to spend more time with her girlfriend. Plus, there's the "Young Designers' Gala," implying that Rarity isn't even the only high school student who runs her own store in this world.

I can see Rarity taking on internships and the like to improve her resume and advance her career, but none of those 'job' scenes felt even remotely like that to me. They just looked like summer jobs for a bit of extra cash. Which I suppose I could see if business was suffering a downturn, but let's face facts: if she's got tons of money at her age, it's probably because of family more than her business. And it's not like dear ol' Mom and Dad would force her to get a job to learn responsibility if she has her own store.

And there being a "Young Designers Gala" doesn't imply anything other than that there are young people who like to design clothes. In no way does it mandate that the participants own/run their own business. That would be like saying all participants in the "Best Young Fliers Competition" have to be captains of weather teams.
