On timelines(abridged)

Well people seemed to enjoy my last offering, so let's see if I can't keep this going. My plan with this blog is to establish the basic series of events in this world I'm writing/creating/dreaming/imagining. the overall goal is to fit the major canon events in while maintaining believability and avoiding "crowding". Thus, not everything happened over a single hectic year a millennium ago. So, let's get started.

To begin with, Equestrian history is divided up into three major eras or "Ages". For the sake of symmetry and convenience I've made the assumption that each of them lasted a thousand years, but that'll probably change at some point. Each Age is separated by a particular disaster that significantly disrupted the previous status quo, the resolution of which leads to the founding of the next Age. In a way, this is an account of three separate Equestrias existing one after another.

Now, no matter how brief I try to be, three thousand years is three thousand years. I'll be putting the whole thing in the other blog, but it's somewhat, long.

• Discord attacks Equestria and is defeated.
• Celestia and Luna are coronated.

The Age of Unity begins.

• Everfree City is founded on the site of Discord's defeat.
• Celestia moves from her home in Paradise Valley to Everfree.
• Luna settles from her life of exploration in Everfree.
• The Griffon Empire begins probing the borders of Equestria.
• Emperor Gerolf declares war on Equestria.
• The battle of Red Hill
• Emperor Gerolf is slain by Princess Celestia
• The Griffon empire fractures and dissolves into a series of feuding city-states.
• Princess Luna adopts a nocturnal schedule to better tend to the survivors of Red Hill.
• Tirek attacks Equestria.
• Equestria hires mercenaries to fight the Iron War.
• Tirek is defeated and sentenced to Tartarus.
• Sombra seizes the Crystal Empire in a vicious coup.
• Celestia and Luna defeat Sombra, but the Empire is cursed.
• Luna takes up the mantle of Nightmare Moon, and attacks her sister.

The Age of Unity ends.

• Luna is defeated with the use of the Elements of Harmony.
• Hollow Shades razed by Zealous Dawn.
• Celestia goes into seclusion.
• The solar court establishes the regency.
• Celestia returns from seclusion.
• Celestia abolishes the regency.
• Celestia abolishes most of the nobility.
• Celestia swears herself to the service of Equestria and retakes the throne.

The Solar Age begins.

• One thousand years of carefully managed prosperity ensue.
• Celestia accidentally enacts the semi-regular "Tribute to Celestia".
• Celestia reforms the mage's Collegium.
• Celestia founds Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns.
• Twilight Sparkle is born.
• Rainbow Dash performs the sonic rainboom.
• Nightmare Moon returns from her banishment.

The Solar Age ends.
