Barricade · 12:43am May 11th, 2020

ARE YOU USERNAME: LADIESMAN217?! Man, I just love that line. So iconic. I should call you Officer Barry Cade... you know, since it combines into his name.

Good evening, my comrades! Yours truly, Joker, is back with not just another Bayverse Decepticon but most importantly the most popular, iconic, well-loved, and famous fan-favorite con in the Transformers Cinematic Universe... Barricade!!! You have to admit that his portrayal in the movies (1,3,5) have made him such a popular character in the franchise. What’s also interesting is that the first film actually brought him on the big screen for the first time—bringing him to life. Of course, he does have a G1 form (although he never appeared in the show) but Transformers really brought him to life so to speak.

To think of it, he is not featured in any of the TF shows (Animated, Prime, RID, Cyberverse, G1, Unicron Trilogy). However, there are toys of him in the Siege: War for Cybertron toyline, and he did appear in the War for Cybertron game. There is also a concept of Transformers Universe Barricade. That is just very small compared to his major role in the movies. Speaking of which, you notice how fans have made arts of him in Animated form where he looks like Prowl? That’s just an example of how much an impact Barricade made on the fandom.

Now that these facts have been established, allow me to show you his interesting bio. Take a look:

Barricade is apparently a complicated robot. He's considered "fractious" even by Decepticon standards, yet is willing to give Starscream the benefit of the doubt and follow where he leads, at least for the time being. Though not totally dedicated to the service of the Decepticons' current leader, he is much more cautious and reserved about expressing mutinous dissent than say most. He believes that Starscream is vital in their search for Megatron and the All Spark. In many ways this makes him Starscream's closest ally in the naturally combative Decepticon ranks. Then again, it's been said that he likes to trick people into trusting him, just so he can see their reactions when they find out just how much of a bad idea it was.

He is a very complicated character, isn’t he? He is whole-sparkedly loyal to Megatron while very cautious when he is around Starscream. We see here that he has a thing for deceiving people and Cybertronians. He uses that through his police car disguise very often that can lure his victims into immediately trusting him. That’s quite an efficient and smart tactic if you ask me. He truly lives the name of Decepticon.

But there is another thing which we cannot forget about him: he has a strong zeal for his cause. Like his master, he wanted to see Cybertron fully restored by the power of the All spark; hence, why we see him very desperate in his search for both that and Megatron.

(Gasp) It just dawned on me! When Barricade was interrogating Sam, I believe he was in a state of desperation to get the information out of Sam in that way he could find a way to retrieve the All spark and find his leader. His aggressive tone and attitude is actually equal to Batman’s. You know the saying: Desperate times require desperate measures.

Although he may have an inconsistent relationship with the Decepticons, his goal of killing Autobots remains the same. Why couldn’t he have a proper fight scene with Bumblebee? Their appearance in TLK was just a missed opportunity (I don’t count that chase scene as a fight).

Anyway, I can definitely say he is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. He was actually among my Transformers toys I first had when I was little.

So, what are your thoughts on him? Do you like him or not like him?

Peace.

He's deadly by all accounts. I'd hire him a heart beat.

He would be a perfect candidate considering that he is a deadly scout. Although, he has a habit of retreating when all odds are against him. But it’s a good thing I guess.

5260188
Indeed. By the way, some of my spies tell me a lot of explosions in Gotham city. Well, 4 out of 5. One of them brought back to me with a nasty concussion. Said something about being ambushed by a and I quote 'Acrobatic, Hammer-weilding, she-clown'. Know anything about that?

5260189
Are you referring to Harley Quinn?? I haven’t spoken to her in years. What is she doing in Gotham?!

5260201
Whatever she's doing, she's out of control. The spy she ambushed is a medical coma. I thought she was too clueless to act alone. Or at the very least, too in love with you. What happened?

5260210
It’s a long story. I would rather not go into detail. We’ve had our share of... problems over the years. She’s just a useless cannon fodder. Leave her to me. You must tend to your spy’s recovery.

5260231
I will. Mind if the rest of my spies stay with you as a precaution?

5260240
Hmm, sure. I’ll have my men guard our headquarters and support your spy.

5260255
Uh, might make that three guest. Scarecrow ambushed another and he's back here.

5260258
That bag-head...:facehoof:

What does he want?

5260263
(Chech spy's eyes) don't know. But I'm glad it wasn't Zsasz or Croc.

5260265
The only unexpected guest I accept is Batman and ONLY Batman. But of course, even he can’t ruin all our fun now, can he?

(Sigh) Quite a rough night for us, isn’t it?

5260272
Yeah. But, I think they're going to be ok.

5260282
Relax, our medical equipment is state of the art.

5260284
Go on then. Send your spy my get-well-soon card.

5260289
And I'll send you what my terrified spy manage to get. The Scarface ventriloquist doll.

5260296
Great. I'll send a droid to deliver it.

He deserved more in the movies like Bumblebee.
