Hearth's Warming Tidbit 17: Propriety Of the Alicorns · 10:30pm May 7th, 2020
Sorry, this took so long, in truth, this has been done for months now, but I had to wait for the proper time. Annoyingly enough when the proper time came my internet went down yesterday. This tidbit sums up everything I feel on the alicorns and is actually a close look at how I see immortals in general. It certainly something I plan to apply to my original work, because seeing immortals being in this way just makes so much perfect sense. Don’t just see it as my take of the alicorns, but on immortals in all forms. This is the Propriety of the Alicorn.
******
The right, the way to rule, the code of an immortal. This is the ideal that the alicorns uphold the most. As an alicorn one must live up to standards higher than any other being in existence. There is a reason why they are seen like gods and even devils.
Now sure, no alicorn’s power is truly on the level of a god like the Ideals that created the universe, but one thing is sure, whether they want it or not, the alicorns are seen as such things, which is why they have a code, a right that states they are alicorns.
It simply not just having the horn and wings. It these actions that truly decided their right and even their role in society.
Each alicorn has a duty, whether they know it or not. It is a reason that bounds them to life. A duty to keep them from going insane in a seemingly endless life.
For example, King Emerald Teal is the Alicorn of the Crystal Forge. He has created nearly every weapon the alicorns have ever used. Taking on the duties from his father-In-law, Kray Marbh Depression, who was the Alicorn of Conception, responsible for creating new breed of life.
Then there is Helios, the Alicorn of Truth. He uphold the absolute truth in the law and order of the world, whether he wants to or not. Inheriting it from his father, Heavonos, who was the Alicorn of Reason.
Each alicorn has to choose their way, or the way will choose them. It is much like a cutie mark for the mortals, but far more stronger. Where a mortal feels a need to follow their fate, an alicorn will follow their fate, there is no need or want about it. For them it is reality and once they realize it they have to accept it or go again it and be driven insane.
This bold last part is no exaggeration. Alicorns who go against their code are doom. Just simply ask Kray. He chose to go against his role and chose to turn against his alicorn allies, in doing so he was slowly driven to the edge of insanity. Sure, he created the changelings and even many artifacts, but he despised his role with all his rage. He was one of the first ever alicorns to exist, yet unlike Heavonos who followed his ways without any hesitation, Kray only pushed against them and for that suffered grave conquests.
