100 Stories about Ponies · 12:16am May 3rd, 2020

So I appeared! And wrote a story!

HELL AINT HALF FULL YET

It's a weird, surreal story. It's very Cynewulf, and I'm hoping you'll enjoy it despite its ambiguous end and also beginning and middle part. I may write more or not, Who knows! I've not felt great about writing in general and in specific, and I'm very depressed. But also I have a nice foxo wife and a cuddley cat, so the world is okay inside of our apartment even as it falls apart outside. I may write a retrospective at some point on the whole Cynewulf thing? Who knows. If you would like more, tell me?

Oh, and for tradition's sake: tell me a story or share something neat you're into right now?

Before finals, I had started reading the whole compendium of Lovecraft. The scenery and prosy bits are my favorites, seeing that he generally ends stories the same with boring ~metaphorical~ insanity and otherwise populates his world with not enough gore and many N-word passes. All the spooky fun ends right when it gets good.

So far The Quest for Iranon has been my favorite.

Something neat I’m into? WELL. I’m about halfway through a glass of Devil’s River bourbon. Neat.

Or! I’ve almost finished A Hero Born, a new translation of the first volume of Legend of The Condor Heroes, which is basically the LotR of Kung Fu. Neat stuff!

Or! I’m also working my way through JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, at which point I’ve found the Diamond is Unbreakable arc is hitting the “teen superhero” vibes a-la Buffy which means I love it.

I could go on.

I have quietly edged back into drinking and am relieved (mostly) to find my old vices less strong. I can enjoy alcohol instead of being ruled by it.

Jojo is awesome. Golden wind is my absolute fave. Foxwife loves all of them but REALLY loves Steel Ball Run

I'm starting EMT school in a week, and I might have to quit my my software engineer job for that. Maybe. That part's still kinda up in the air.

I once had a copy of q Lovecraft book that I swear was the size of Encyclopedia Britannica.

I got mine from Amazon too, but it was a different edition.

I have a honking giant Lovecraft book. It's great, it even has his really early stuff from when he was a teenager.

I would tell you a story! But you have read it, since it was Through a Glass Darkly, and was totally inspired by at least the first half of Hell Ain't Half Full Yet. I am super excited to share it, but me being me, and this story being one of the ones I like, I'm getting it properly edited first. Must make the words right.

Right now I am into turnips. We braved the farmer's market and got some, since my farm box didn't happen.

I can't tell you how much I love your writing, so moar stories plz you wonderful person.

What I'm into right now? I'm blasting my way through Kamen Rider Zero-One after having fallen behind. (I never know where one person knows of tokusatsu things, so I apologize if this is really random.) It has some great suit design and I'm liking all the characters...sans the comedy aspect of the show. It's that weird Japanese humor that relies on overacting and gags and it has never been my cup of tea. So that's my only real complaint. I just passed the episodes where the midseason super form has been introduced and it's dayum sexy. It's excited me in ways the last two shows haven't.

So all in all it's been fun to binge watch something.

A wild Cynewulf appears, bearing a story!

Hmm... I made the mistake of getting a sudoku app on my phone, and now I'm semi-seriously getting addicted to solving them. Slotting those numbers in place, with more numbers falling out in patterns, until the whole grid is complete, speaks to some order-loving, number-happy part of my brain.

What I'm into right now?
The Perseverance mission is slated to launch this year, the James Webb Space Telescope is on schedule for next year, as well as the Artemis program!
We're sending a new rover to Mars to look for fossils! A new telescope that's almost four times larger than Hubble and will be able to see exoplanets directly, and has better resolution in infrared- meaning we can see even further / deeper into the origins of the universe! We're going back to the moon!!!

living in quarantine, avoiding my art responsibilities and continuing my day job because it's software and of course I can keep doing that, but at home where it's colder and I'm more easily distracted.

It was 80 degrees out today and I sat outside and read more of my hard copy of The Night is Passing. Got to the end of act 1. Yeah I get through books a lot slower than I used to.

Have been whiling the days away with Jackbox games over the internet and VR. HL:Alyx and Boneworks are both highly awesome and Beat Saber is a great substitute for normal exercise.

Beat Saber is such a great experience.

Weirdly, I've struggled to read at all in quarantine! You'd think it would be easy but it hasn't been.
