    Reader interaction poll!

    Please check it out here.

Since comments are a little scarce and I’m new to long-form mature fiction, I wanted to do a quick survey. It’s all anonymous but it’s going to be very helpful because of the content slated to appear in the next few chapters. Your votes will help me gauge reader feelings and the intensity of how graphic things will be.

    Pretty Pony Poems

Lately, I have been going through various complete entries in Missing Pages that were too short to publish. I decided that "Just Weep" shouldn't be left to gather dust there. I've since published it as its own story with the addition of eight new poems about Celestia (and Luna) so that it is long enough to count as a one-shot according to the site's minimum wordcount rule. If you read the

    ICE STAR WROTE HORSE SEX

    WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

Yes. I did. Two horses having normal horse sex. It's a completely serious story, but I decided to go out of my usual skill area for April Fool's Day. If you've been following Stay Golden and you want a quick peek of what's to come, this story is for you.

It's also getting a lotta downvotes for not being porn. RIP in pepperoni.

I had a few chapters of backlog left. Or, a modest update.

I started catching up on what I could yesterday when I saw the crazy amount of notifications I had accumulated. It's certainly going to take me a while and then some to read all of the stories that were published recently. I'm not doing too good; I'll have a blog about that sooner or later. Until then, know that I have some updates for Marigold's story that have been edited and are waiting for

Hi, it's been a while since I've been on here. But enough about me. I need y'all's help.

I'll make a blog about the shit I've been up to some other time. Right now, I'm kind of having a huge emergency -- except it's not impacting me. It's impacting my boyfriend. He's disabled and trying to get a car... the problem is his family is filled with other people who are disabled and they have no working vehicle. They live in poverty. I'm broke from getting my friends -- as well as him and

Two Questions · 4:29pm Apr 26th, 2020

...because quarantine makes me get blog-itis, apparently.

1) Looking over stories I have unpublished and those I do, along with my idea list and other upcoming stuff, I realized that I do write sequels as they come to me. It's just how I work. Because of this, I figured it was only right that I asked this: of all the stuff I have that doesn't have a sequel or won't obviously have one (Enemy of Mine being an obvious example) is there a sequel to a story anyone really wanted to see? Why? With so many stories, I figured this would be a neat thing to get answers to.

2) Straw poll regarding ratings on NSFW stories. Answering this helps me with deciding how NSFW stories and their SFW versions are gonna go. I try to make both versions so that readers can have different options, but there are some stories that are either too short or that I'm not sure how to edit enough to make SFW, like Bastard Juice.

To answer 1: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/373803/too-early
This is motivated primarily by my liking of Blueblood stuff, especially romance. I feel that he is a woefully underused character. I'd write a story myself but with a mountain of commissions weighing down on my shoulders, I don't have that time. I did like Too Early. It was cute and a rather unusual pairing. I like seeing Blueblood and his interaction with other characters explored because I like the archetypes he typically falls under when he's portrayed sympathetically. I just also have an unusual fondness for 'bad guys' being written 'good' or redemptive.
To answer 2:
Making a sfw version of a nsfw story seems like a headache. There are a few people who genuinely get turned off and don't read a story because there's even a trace of nuts. I suppose if there was a clopscene you could easily copy and paste out of a story then you could do it. At the same time, you could just create a non-clop version of the same chapter but on the same story. Creating two different stories would split up the readership I think.

I just need to write more Blue in general, and certainly more BlueJoe. Curse having so many projects.

I write gore, and site rules allow two versions of a story in the that case one is NSFW. So I understand people not wanting to read about graphic dead bodies in their murder mystery if they're more focused on the mystery and the like.

Thanks! It helps to know who voted for what sometimes too.

I'll be honest, I don't love the idea of splitting a story into SFW and NSFW versions. My impression is that the difference would mostly come down to the level of detail with certain content. If you say there's a mutilated body on the floor, that's probably SFW, if you describe at great length precisely how mutilated it is, that's NSFW, that kind of thing. So if those details are important, their omission makes for a lesser version of the story, and if they're not important, why would you dwell on them to such an extent that you cross into NSFW territory?

Buuut that's probably thinking about things more as a writer than a reader. (Or it's making a faulty assumption, so please do correct me if I'm jumping to conclusions here) There're certainly times when I've found myself skipping over NSFW bits, so I guess it makes a certain amount of pragmatic sense. I still probably wouldn't ever do it, but I can see why it would appeal to some readers, so if you feel it's not too big a loss for the story to be read in a SFW version, I don't see much harm in offering it as an option.

I generally feel that if a story has so much NSFW content that it can't reasonably be edited into a semi-SFW or at least a dubiously SFW version then there probably isn't a lot of story there, to begin with. I've noticed that with what I'm writing as NSFW so far, the NSFW isn't as gratuitous in a lot of areas in terms of a ratio of how much is there. If I'm allowed to provide a SFW version, I feel like it's worth doing for the readers who just don't want that kind of explicit content. I tend to see a lot of stories where I'd probably have been interested in reading if it was SFW or if there was a SFW version available.

I'd say it's more of a matter of courtesy. I may envision something as a rather explicitly gory story, but that doesn't mean everyone is interested in the gory details. (Pun intended) It goes for a lot of true crime media too, I think. Some of it is very focused on the mystery and investigation without presenting images of bodies or crime scene photos. Others are not so neat and will present autopsy photos and other violent imagery that can be really offputting and upsetting if I wanted another direction as a viewer. This can happen with videos that are just floating around on Youtube too, which can make it hard to pick what to watch if I don't know about the exact direction of the content. I figured that for my writing, the least I could do is eliminated any kind of dilemma like that by giving two versions.

Also, from what I can tell, I have a lot of followers who are minors or appear to be minors.

I can't really answer 1 because I'm still in the middle of reading most of your 'already has a sequel' fics, so not much to say there I think. All That Lingers did come to mind, but honestly that was a cute little thing on its own so it doesn't need a sequel, as much a I just want more cute Sombra/Cadance content.

I really gotta read more of your one shots though.

As for 2, that's something a bit harder to answer. I for one don't mind a bit of gorey NSFW, but any of the sexual stuff is a flat out 'no thanks' for me. Though it seems in this case it's referring more to gore, since I don't think you write quite as much of the other stuff. I'm not exactly helpful here I don't think.

I ended up voting for 'I read the SFW version' though, even if it's not particularly true but I can't exactly change that now.

1: With how much I have to catch up on from your library, I can't rightly ask for a sequel to any of your current works.

2: I voted SFW purely because if you have the ability to write a SFW and NSFW version for the same story, more power to you; I generally prefer having my shelves filled with lighter fics, but having both versions does spread it out to a wider audience.

Yes~

I'm asexual, so writing sex has no appeal to me. Writing horse sex? That's even more perplexing. I like writing my weird ideas and genre fiction or something artsy-fartsy, not porn.

👀 You know what this means.

Ah yes, flood the horseword market with Icewords. Outstanding move.

I don't know if this really pertains to anything at all (I just really don't know where to put this) but I'd really like to see you try your hand at like a superhero story or something

5251788
I’ve never been super big into the Power Ponies so I don’t know what ideas I would have.

5251904
Power Ponies is 1 Avenue yes but it is not the only thing

5252213
They're the only thing that really comes to mind for canon superheroes.

of all the stuff I have that doesn't have a sequel or won't obviously have one (Enemy of Mine being an obvious example) is there a sequel to a story anyone really wanted to see?

Part of me thinks it's obvious a sequel will exist, part of me says that it doesn't have to. This might be entirely redundant.

Distance Beyond Any Measure. Note that I didn't say Atychiphobia. Something from Celestia's point of view that surrounds the reconciliation of Sunset and Celestia, assuming it happens,* the way that Distance Beyond Any Measure surrounds Sunset flouncing through the portal. Or even just said-reconciliation, same disclaimer, from Celestia's point of view.

* Your corpus is over a million words, I haven't remotely read all of it, and I can't search for characters mentioned but not tagged. As such, I don't actually know if there's an Iceverse-canonical thing that references the post-series status of Sunset and Celestia's relationship.

I have ideas written down for stories related to both of those, however, only the one for Atychipobia touches upon outside perspectives of Sunset Shimmer. The other one is about Celestia investigating the mirror portal unrelated to Sunset's disappearance and takes place before her lifetime. I can't promise either any time soon, as they're currently just sitting on the idea list.

Enemy of Mine has Sunset Shimmer brought up at some fairly significant points. It's also from Celestia's point of view. Her Own Sky has the moments right after Sunset Shimmer vanishes. In the forum of the Iceverse group, there's also a timeline. If you're just looking at post-Distance stories with Sunset and Celestia then there's definitely those two. I don't think any other stories have any mention of Sunset that's just beyond brief name drops. If you want a post-Distance story that's about human-world Sunny, then there's Tuning it Out.

Hopefully, this helped!

Hopefully those answers help!
