So for anyone who really cares, there will definitely be an update next week on Saturday, possibly before.
The major delay has been for a number of reasons, chiefly being my absolute dissatisfaction with how I had written the chapter to be published. It's only 2.5k words, but let me just say that it was the hardest 2.5k words I've ever had to write.
To put that into perspective, this chapter went through no less than three total rewrites, 2 complete theme changes and countless pacing and descriptive changes and additions. As it stands, I'm still not entirely satisfied, but I had to stop somewhere.
The main crux behind this is that the upper section of the forbidden forest feels utterly uninspired to me. It is literally just Yharnam 2: Tree Edition with beasts, plenty of fire, light and even some guy going loony in a shack. I've never liked it, never found it even remotely forbidden feeling, and never will.
The lower section, though? Oh boy, great design and atmosphere. Beauty.
So, with all that out of the way, I've only got basic prep and proofreading left for this chapter. After this, things should hopefully go faster since the tone is much better oulined ingame in both the lower forest and beyond.
