Writing Panel, this Saturday at 6:30 EST! · 9:24pm Apr 22nd, 2020

Well lads, it's time for me to take a break from being in Sad and Tired Land to go to Excited but Nervous Land. Why, you ask?

Because me and Wanderer D are hosting a panel this Saturday at Ponyfest Online!

When: 6:30 EST.
Where: Ponyfest Discord Server
Title: Why Ponyfic Matters: The History of Transformative Art and the Role of Fanfiction in the MLP Community
Subject: ... The history of transformative art and the role of fanfiction in the MLP Community.
Subject, but less snarky: We're going to be talking about what is transformative art and its prevalence in the western literary canon and thus why fanfiction is "valid," why we think fanfic for this show works so well, and what ways it's good for the greater community to have such a deep and robust library of fanfic. This will be followed with a short Q&A.

For those unaware, Ponyfest is an online pony convention started up to help artists who's income was set to be affected by the Coronavirus pandemic and also to provide a way for the fandom to stay connected with stay at home orders in effect for the immediate future. It is set up on a Discord server with several general chats, private voice chats you can commandeer to talk or stream content, dedicate voice chats for streaming games or doing tabletop RPG stuff, and streams for panels with community and show staff guests. The full schedule of what will be going should be on their website later tonight, so keep an eye on it.

Last time, even though I only sort of lurked for the last few hours I enjoyed such things as:
- Robcakeran setting up in a voice chat to stream writing which mostly devolved into his friends playing Jackbox while roasting Shakespearicles
- Big Jim giving a neat little interview
- A wild Linux user trying to set up and stream Elite Dangerous via WINE
- Light heartedly roasted their Windows using friend for using Windows
- Faulty streaming a concert set from the Australian wilderness like an absolute mad lad
- Francis Vace and 4everfreebrony also livestreaming little one man concerts from their studios

All in all, had a good time.

So, come on down, and I look forward to seeing you there!
