For an explanation, I like to think of Mane-iac as more like Two Face crossed with Dr. Octopus instead of the Joker like almost everyone else does. With my head canon, the Mane-iac was once the proud owner of a shampoo company by the name of Mable Mane. However somepony didn't like what she was doing for the city, so they sent somepony to assassinate her, pushing her into the chemical shampoo vat.
After the birth of the Mane-iac, Mable likes to wear her mane in a pony tail to make her seem more approachable. Despite this, her efforts for reformation haven't been easy.
MANE-IAC DOESN"T LIKE BEING LOCKED AWAY!

I know this isn't the greatest drawing, but I wanted to try drawing on my new Surface Go, and I think it came out.… reasonably well.
Her hoodie is loosely based off of Ahuizotl, because as we all know. ManeiacxAhuizotl is the best ship out there.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the image.
