Writing Realistic Romance (featuring a rewrite) · 12:59am Apr 9th, 2020

Writing romance can be a difficult venture, but I've decided to make a quick blog to clear up a few misconceptions people seem to have about my intentions with Roseluck's Realization. If you're interested, and would like a sneak peek of a rewritten chapter, have a read!

I'll start by addressing a few questions people have posed.

Why does Clyde suddenly flip his opinion from being 'just friends' to wanting to kiss Roseluck?

The easiest way to answer this question is that, quite simply, it's impossible to write a story without drawing upon your own experiences. Much of our creativity stems from seminal events in our lives, and it's something that can really help make a story stronger, or it can hamper it. In this instance, it really depends on your own experiences.

When I first met my wife, I was convinced that we would remain just friends. I didn't have any romantic feelings for her, something which she is and was aware of. Still, she confessed her feelings to me one night, and it was as if a switch had flipped in my brain. It's easy to look in from the outside and think of something like this being unreasonable, but from first-hand experience, I can tell you it's not. Whether or not that ruins the immersion for someone isn't my concern, as I'm simply trying to write a character whilst drawing upon my own experiences as a foundation.

When will there be clop?

I'm currently rewriting chapter 7, Nothing Can Keep Me From You. This rewrite is going to clock in at around 2.5K-3K words, and will contain a clop portion. What that clop entails will be a surprise.

Why are Roseluck's sisters so nosy?

Try growing up with two older sisters. There's no such thing as privacy, haha.

Why have the last couple chapters felt rushed?

Because they were, plain and simple. That's the major reason I'm going to be rewriting chapter seven, and possibly reworking chapter six as well. I've got a lot of anxiety in my life, and quite honestly, the thought of writing something that is in nearly 5,000 bookshelves intimidates me. I'm constantly living in fear that the next chapter will be hated, and it's caused me to make some mistakes along the way. I do intend to fix those, though!

When will this rewrite be posted?

Hopefully tonight, since it's nearly completed.

As always, I hope you guys have a fantastic day, and I look forward to seeing how you like the new chapter!

Glad to hear that this story isn't dead yet! Not that I thought it was, I was just waiting for the next update for a long time :twilightsheepish:

Patiently waiting for it. Loved the story thus far.
