I'm not gonna say what's been going down across half the world lately, kind of obvious, that and I haven't exactly been active lately... or at all... it's a habit, sorry. Point of this blog, slash rambling, is simple, got something in the works that I thought I'd try.
Crossovers.
I'm not... overly keen on them, I do find some I enjoy, just... most I tend to acknowledge for any given length of time ends with me rolling my eyes, no disregard to the writer, good job as always, just not my cup of tea, I like Jasmine -- Besides the point. My point is, Crossovers I have the affinity of finding tend to fall under some obvious and highly simplified tropes, as in, no effort to broaden that trope was made, I get it, no one likes writing some aspects of a story, I bloody despise writing fight scenes at times, it happens.
One trope I've noticed, the 'Mysterious voice in my head' trope... *Takes loooooong sip of tea*... how hard, is it, to write, literally anything else? You can have the voice in your head, I don't govern your mental issues, my issue is revolving around the idea that every 'Voice in you head' trope doesn't have to immediately be mysterious or vague as [BEEP]. Like, why don't they just tell you what's what instead of being like, 'You must interact with the world and its characters, you must make find your role in this world' or even better. 'Complete this task and I'll give you next to no information of my identity'.
Granted, some reveals pay off, and of course, it builds the plot if, as I said, it broadened beyond simplicity. I just hate being teased by a carrot on a stick for thirty chapters while the character is slogged through the mental hellscape that is either Equestria's reality or some other form of media. Just tell the man or woman what's up, my guy.
Another thing, again, completely your cup of tea, not an issue, just... don't expect me to follow along half the time. When I see some of these works of art I tend to nod and go, 'sounds fun' then move on, others, oh ho ho ho, they reeeeally like their tags. I'm talking about the multiversal calamity that is 'Multiversal-Crossovers', you know, the ones that give a character like ten different crossover powers, or throw ten universes at Equestria like its a [BEEP]ing Dart Board! I'm surprised space and time haven't collapsed into a meta-disaster, Total Event Collapse! Maybe it has I have no idea.
You know something, my writing and my profile picture can be quite the contrast. Overall, I don't hate Crossovers, if you love writing them I completely understand, hell, I'm writing one right now and so far I've enjoyed it. Pokemon and Monster Hunter, it's just that when you throw alot of different universes and their powers or characters into one place without a form of gradual acceptance I tend to find myself uninterested or downright confused, but I'm probably just an idiot, wouldn't be the first time I suppose.
All-in-all, if you read this, thanks, much appreciated, and I apologize for wasting your time.
Sincerely,
Slendy
