Shadow Mirror is the only unicorn in his family, his parents and brother being earth ponies. He has always been a pony that spends a lot of time thinking about stuff, from how ordinary things work to advance magical theories and philosophy.

This unfortunately means that he sometimes gets stuck in his thoughts and can need a little help with letting things go. Especially if it is a problem he thinks needs to be solved.

He is a fairly shy pony who tries his best every day to be as kind as possible to others although despite that he still doesn’t make friends easily.

Shadow doesn’t like large groups or loud noises so his favorite place is the local library. He loves reading books, both fact and fiction, and feels as if he is exploring countless worlds and endless possibilities.

His family would occasionally push him to enjoy the outside world as well but the result were often mixed. He would always eventually end up back with his books. Until he was accepted into Twilight’s school for gifted unicorns.

There he would discover that while he could understand extremely advanced magical theory he had great difficulty with casting spells. Which unfortunately led to him being bullied by some of the more elite students who would call him weak and tell him that he didn’t belong in the school.

This caused him to push himself harder than any of the other students until eventually he would discover his special talents and earn his cutie mark. A circular mirror with a silver frame. Shadow was born with a unique sense of empathy and can hear the emotions and thoughts of others as sounds and music.

By forming a connection with another pony Shadow can copy their special talent, including their cutie mark which will appear in his mirror, and magical abilities no matter how unique or difficult they are. While it allows him to greatly understand others it can also easily overwhelm him if there are too many ponies around, especially if he tries to form a connection with multiple ponies simultaneously.
